Associate Director - Operations Manager

New York, NY

About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Our platform is fully integrated with central clearing houses and exchanges to support billions in trading volume per day. We’ve agonized about our data model abstractions, created horizontal scalability, and crafted thoughtful APIs. All so we can provide a best-in-class experience for our clients.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Team
CSIM is a fund of funds. Our small team builds relationships with allocators, evaluates managers, and runs the business behind the portfolio. The team is currently with the Head of CSIM and the Chief Investment Officer, reporting directly to the CEO/Founder of Clear Street. We will be looking to add 2-3 additional team members in the coming weeks as we continue to grow the business.

The Role: Operations Manager
We are looking for someone to take over the running of the business, administrative and operational side of CSIM. You will own capital and cash, NAV and reporting, risk monitoring and service provider oversight, and partner with the Investment Committee, our CCO and Clear Street’s accounting and finance teams. This seat has the potential to become COO for an outstanding candidate.

Responsibilities
Capital & Cash
• Manage investor subscriptions, redemptions and transfers with the fund administrator, including onboarding and KYC/AML.
• Run cash management and liquidity planning across the fund, including funding of underlying investments and redemption notices to underlying managers.
• Track lock-ups, notice periods, gates and liquidity terms across the portfolio, and match them against the fund’s own investor terms.

NAV, Reporting & Audit
• Review the monthly NAV with the administrator, including estimated and final marks from underlying funds and class-level fee and incentive allocation calculations.
• Produce investor statements, monthly and quarterly reporting, and internal performance reporting.
• Coordinate the annual audit with the auditor and the tax preparer on partnership returns and K-1s.

Risk & Exposure Monitoring
• Monitor exposure, leverage and margin in separately managed accounts, including funding levels, collateral in first-loss arrangements, and counterparty exposure on swaps and structured notes.
• Report concentration, liquidity and exposure to the Investment Committee, and flag breaches or trends early.

Service Providers & Clear Street
• Serve as day-to-day lead with the fund administrator, auditor, legal counsel and outsourced compliance.
• Work with Clear Street’s accounting and finance teams on expense allocation, fee calculations and related reporting, within the firm’s information-barrier policies. Compliance, Investors & Build-Out
• Support the compliance program with our CCO, including regulatory filings, the code of ethics and preparation for SEC registration.
• Lead operational due diligence with investors: DDQs, ODD meetings and data room upkeep.
• Write and maintain operating policies and procedures, and help scope the next operations and finance hires.

Requirements
• 2–5 years in operations, fund accounting or finance at a fund of funds, hedge fund, allocator, fund administrator or audit firm serving asset managers.
• Experience overseeing a fund administrator and reviewing NAVs, not just receiving them.
• Experience with audits, DDQs and investor ODD.
• Experience building processes from scratch, valued over familiarity with any one system.
• Financial services or high-growth technology experience preferred.

Analytical & Functional
• Working knowledge of partnership accounting, multiple share classes, management fees, incentive allocations, hurdles and high-water marks.
• Familiarity with prime brokerage, margin, separately managed accounts and derivatives such as total return swaps.

Mindset
• Judgment and ownership: you notice what is about to go wrong, fix it, and tell us.

We Offer:
