Senior Analyst, Sales & Use Tax
What The Role Is
Reporting to the Manager of Sales & Use Tax, the Senior Analyst for Sales & Use Tax will be responsible for supporting the Manager on all sales & use tax matters for the company including performing tax research on state and local tax matters, tax planning, implementation, due diligence, tax compliance, addressing tax controversies with taxing jurisdictions, tax account reconciliations, and maintenance of external tax engine.

What You'll Be Doing
- Ensure compliance with sales & use, gross receipts, excise tax, business licenses, and other miscellaneous tax obligations in state and local jurisdictions where Clearway has business operations.
- Deliver a full range of state and local indirect tax services including tax research, preparation of technical memorandums and exemption certificates, drafting correspondence, and investigating the effect of new or proposed legislation.
- Conduct reviews of state and local indirect tax returns.
- Timely prepare and perform tax-relevant account reconciliations.
- Coordinate internal and external defense of tax audits.
- Oversee multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that analyze sales & use and other tax types to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, and credits and incentives.
- In close collaboration with the Accounting and Procurement departments, analyze and make recommendations on business and process improvement to optimize Clearway’s operations.
- Serve as a primary business contact for Clearway’s sales & use tax software system.
- Perform all aspects of work with a high degree of accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred) finance or business.
- 4+ years of tax experience in accounting (including in public accounting) with a state and local tax focus.
- Possess strong research, writing skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to perform in a high-energy, dynamic environment.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
- Independent thinker motivated to drive process improvement.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives.
- Strong analytical and Excel financial modeling skills, with competency in PowerPoint.
- Ability to formulate and articulate viewpoints (written and verbal) in a clear, persuasive, and succinct manner.
- Demonstrated self-starter with a positive “can do” attitude and a passion for excellence in embracing company goals and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
What Would Be Nice
- MST or related master’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Vertex and S4 Hana is highly desirable.
- Energy industry experience is a plus.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
$92,000 - $110,000 USD
