Project Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Engineer will provide performance analysis and design expertise on utility-scale solar and energy storage projects during the early-stage development and design phases. You will partner with internal and external contacts to be a subject matter expert on technical specifications for PV and energy storage projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Evaluate equipment performance, specifications, and roadmap by working with our internal Procurement team and equipment suppliers to drive technology evolution.
- Create photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage production estimates using commercial software programs, like PVsyst, or in-house models.
- Coordinate Independent Engineer (IE) due diligence including contract management, reviewing IE reports, IE energy assessments, and providing feedback as needed.
- Provide Owner Engineering review for projects in all stages of design.
- Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge on new technologies and energy assessment techniques for both PV, and energy storage.
- Provide technical review and input for key contracts and agreements including Interconnection, Equipment Procurement, Power Purchase, EPC, and O&M.
- Create conceptual system design and site layouts for PV and energy storage.
- Communicate technical specifications and track scope of work for engineering design contracts, while also supporting technical review of contractor-supplied deliverables.
- Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
- Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in electrical engineering or related, or an advanced degree.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
- Skills/Attributes:
- Familiarity with technical specs of the equipment used in solar + storage projects.
- Familiar with basic energy modeling techniques to predict energy consumption and assess system performance.
- Foundational engineering contract knowledge and understanding.
- Ability to review a project schedule, including design reviews, constructability, and value engineering.
- Capable at nurturing new relationships for collaboration in achieving shared goals.
- Ability to independently gather and understand project requirements to effectively complete a task.
- Competent in basic engineering project management, overseeing tasks and schedules to ensure projects are completed.
- Adept at conveying detailed information in a clear and concise manner, ensuring effective understanding among internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work through different opinions of design choices, including potential conflict resolution.
- Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
