About Cleo

Most people come to Cleo to do work that matters. Every day, we empower people to build a life beyond their next paycheck, building a beloved AI that enables you to forge your own path toward financial well-being.

Backed by some of the most well-known investors in tech, we’ve reached millions of people to support them throughout their financial lives, from their first paycheck to their first home and beyond. We're hitting headlines too. This year, Forbes named us as one of their Next Billion Dollar Startups, and we were crowned the 'Hottest Tech Scaleup' at the Europas.

Follow us on LinkedIn to keep up to date with new product features and insights from the team.

What you’ll be doing:

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to be working as part of a cross functional team to develop Cleo into a hyper-personalised financial coach. Day to you’ll be working out what makes our users tick, and building products that empower them. You’ll also join our design guild made up of Content Designers, Product Designers and User Researchers. We want to build an outstanding research function at Cleo, and you’ll play an important role in determining what that looks like.

The role:

  • Plan and execute diverse user research projects to inform the development of new features and improve existing ones.
  • Focus on both qualitative and quantitative research to deliver data-driven insights that influence decision-making.
  • Analyse research findings and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations for your team and the broader organization.
  • Actively engage your team in the research process, from designing interview scripts to observing customer interactions.
  • Advocate for user-centric design by facilitating workshops that inspire ideation and iterative improvements.
  • Contribute to upskilling others in the organization by sharing knowledge of qualitative research techniques and best practices.

What are we looking for?

You’re someone who cares deeply about understanding other humans and their relationships with money, in all their complex forms. You’ve got a great grounding in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and exercise these to deliver game-changing insights at pace. You’re excited to help everyone learn and test new things everyday.

  • Solid experience in designing and executing research projects using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to inform product decisions.
  • Some familiarity or experience with quantitative techniques like segmentation or experimental design, with a willingness to grow in these areas.
  • Self-starter attitude, with the ability to identify problems, prioritize effectively, and execute research plans independently.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative methods, including remote testing, and an understanding of when to incorporate these into your work.
  • Excellent communication skills and empathy, enabling you to effectively share insights and advocate for the customer.
  • A team player who enjoys bringing others along in the research journey and encouraging a user-centric mindset across the business.

Additionally, if you have led high level analyses synthesising both primary and secondary data from various sources to provide strategic insights into market trends, competitive landscapes and consumer behaviour - that would be AWESOME.

What do you get for all your hard work?

  • An above market compensation package (Base + Equity). We're prepared to pay for the very best. You can view our progression framework and salary bandings here: https://cleo-ai.progressionapp.com/ - this position is a UR3 level and we can pay between £56,753 - £71,656.
  • A clear progression plan. We want you to keep growing. That means trying new things, leading others, challenging the status quo and owning your impact. Always with our complete support.
  • Flexibility: We treat you as humans first, employees second. Because we can’t fight for the world’s financial health, if we’re not healthy ourselves. This means all the usual perks but it also means flexibility. We take pride in being a flexible workplace that trusts our Cleople to deliver their best work, giving you the autonomy to structure your day around morning drop-offs to school or daily dog walks.
  • Hybrid-first: Join our hybrid-first team, where we blend the best of both remote and in-office work. We expect our team members to be in our London office 1-2 times a week. On Thursdays, we buy you lunch but you can come to the office on whichever days work best for you!
