Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation of internal and external investor financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for management and investors.
- Prepare Cleo’s audited group financial statements under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Lead on our US entity financial statements preparation and audit under US GAAP.
- Collaborate and own the annual audit process, as well as developing and implementing internal controls
- Partner with other teams (e.g., Strategic Finance, Operations) to support strategic decision-making and provide insight into Cleo’s financial performance.
Tax Compliance and Strategy
- Manage Cleo’s tax compliance processes across the UK, US, and other jurisdictions, ensuring timely filing of all tax returns and payments.
- Liaise with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with UK corporate tax, US Federal and State tax
- Monitor changes in tax legislation across all relevant jurisdictions, assessing their impact on Cleo’s operations and advising the business accordingly.
- Support transfer pricing compliance and documentation across the group
Team Leadership and Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain robust processes for financial reporting and tax compliance to support Cleo’s scaling operations.
- Train and mentor junior finance team members in areas of reporting and tax compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in reporting, systems, and processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Strategic Finance team to align financial reporting with forecasts.
- Collaborate with Legal, People, and Operations teams to address tax and accounting implications of business decisions and global expansion plans.
- Act as a key point of contact for investors and external stakeholders regarding financial and tax reporting matters.
What We’re Looking For
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) with strong post-qualification experience (+3 years)
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and experience preparing financial statements in compliance with these standards. US GAAP knowledge is a plus, but not essential
- Demonstrated experience in managing UK, US, and global tax compliance
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Proactive and resourceful, with a drive to improve processes and systems
- Previous experience in a fast-paced technology, SaaS, or start-up environment is highly desirable
What do you get for all your hard work?

If there’s anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know.
UK App access: The Cleo app is no longer downloadable in the UK (but only until next year). If you’re an existing user, you’ll still have access to the app. But some features won’t be available (just for a little while). Why? 99% of our users are based
in the US – where financial health is often overlooked. We’ve decided to shift our focus to where we can provide the most value and make the greatest impact for users who need it most. Then we’ll be able to apply what we learn to better support our UK users in the future.
