SUMMARY
As the Post-Award Grant Management Services Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution, management, and compliance of awarded grants. You will be responsible for administering, monitoring, and reporting on grant funds, collaborating with grantees, and ensuring compliance with all regulations. Your leadership and expertise will be essential in advancing our mission and making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. You’ll need an in-depth knowledge of most federal funding agencies’ post-award requirements, including the Department of Energy, United States Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, and National Science Foundation, as well as those of leading state agencies, such as the California Energy Commission and NYSERDA. Additional knowledge with Post Award Management Services (PAMS), Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA), Single Audit Act, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), DOE’s Federal Assistance Reporting Requirements (FARR), and Uniform Guidance - 2CFR200. Experience with EU post-award management processes is a significant plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Management:

  • Oversee the post-award grant management process, including grant agreements, disbursements, and compliance monitoring
  • Develop and maintain efficient and transparent grant management systems and procedures
  • Ensure grants are executed in accordance with funding terms and regulatory requirements

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay current with all relevant grant regulations and compliance standards (Uniform Guidance - 2CFR200)
  • Implement and enforce grant compliance procedures and policies
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports to funding agencies and internal stakeholders

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships and expectations with clients, serving as a primary point of contact for grant-related inquiries and support
  • Collaborate with clients to address concerns, provide guidance, and promote best practices in grant management

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and technology adoption to streamline post-award grant services
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and innovative approaches in grant management

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to grant management and compliance
  • Develop contingency plans to address unexpected challenges

Knowledge Base:

  • Deep understanding of granting agencies, including, but not limited to, the Department of Energy, US Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, National Science Foundation, California Energy Commission, NYSERDA, and others
  • Familiarity with federal SF42X forms
  • Understanding of RPPRs, Patent Certifications, and Scientific/Technical Reporting
  • Can speak confidently about the aforementioned agencies’s interests and requirements with a wide range of stakeholders


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Graduate degree and/or relevant professional certifications preferred
  • At least five (5) years of proven experience in grant management
  • Strong knowledge of US federal and US state grant compliance and regulations requirements, with strong knowledge of EU and other funders preferred
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Proven people and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in using agency post-award submission portals (e.g., PAMS, DOE Energy Link System (E-Link), and Research.gov)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with pre-award government grants, foundations, or corporate donors
  • Certified Grant Management Specialist (CGMS) 
  • Knowledge of project management software (e.g., Asana) and use/implementation of eRA grant management software systems.
  • Familiarity with climate technologies
  • Technical background

COMPENSATION: $80 - 100 per hour, commensurate with experience
