Senior Accountant
About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to perform accounting and financial analysis for specific Foundation departments. With training, assistance, and guidance from Finance leadership, the position supports financial transactions and reporting for specified departments. The position will cross train and provide support for payroll processing and related payroll tasks.
The position collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief of Strategy and Analysis, Finance, and Sr. Accounting Manager to confirm that the Foundation’s financial processes and procedures are compliant with Foundation standard operating practices as well as state and federal laws. The position reports to the Director of Audit and Accounting Services.
The Clinton Foundation Finance Department is responsible for recording, reporting, and monitoring financial matters and supports the mission of the Foundation. Finance Department members collaborate with programmatic, development, and departmental colleagues to develop program specific budgets and staffing plans as well as assist with the strategic plans of the Foundation. Certain members of the Finance Department also work closely with members of the Human Resources team on matters related to compensation and benefits.
Core Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Perform monthly close process, reporting, and financial analyses.
- Review transactions for proper accounting treatment.
- Maintain schedules for various internal and external functions.
- Assist budget owners by providing analysis of financial data to support decision making and strategies.
- Participate in quarterly and annual budget meetings.
- Assist with implementation of improved or new financial systems and procedures for assigned departments.
- Provide financial support for management and senior leadership.
- Assist with review, reconciliation, and processing of bi-weekly multi-state, multi-location payroll for US based Foundation employees.
- Research discrepancies, reconcile, and prepare ad hoc reporting for payroll purposes.
- Collaborate with HR and assist with additional payroll related tasks for processing, auditing, and/or reporting.
- Collaborate with finance leadership and the finance team on ongoing development of policies, processes, and standards needed for compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Assist in financial audits and implement audit recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 6 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility.
- At least 1 of those years must have included either managing people or managing projects to completion.
- Payroll processing experience preferred.
- Understanding of GAAP, fund accounting; ability to analyze financial statements and communicate results to management and leadership; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of accounting software; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus; proficient with computers, a variety of software applications, and Microsoft Office.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with database reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality of all matters related to compensation.
- Ability to analyze/learn financial, payroll, and HRIS computer-based systems.
- Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Ability to work in a varying schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
Compensation & Benefits
- Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $67K annually. This range is based on Little Rock market rates.
