Account Director, Clinton Global Initiative (project-based)

About the Opportunity 

The CGI Account Director leads the Community Growth team and is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective sponsors and members, ensuring their needs are met while delivering exceptional service. They act as the main point of contact between these stakeholders and CGI, work to identify the best engagement plan for new relationships, work to identify opportunities for increased engagement within existing relationships and collaborate with internal teams to ensure the completion of agreed-upon deliverables. They are also responsible for leveraging the CGI audience engagement strategy to generate ticket sales outside of the account management model. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential for success in this position.

This is a 6-month project-based opportunity.

Core Responsibilities  

Manage existing portfolio of sponsor accounts for the CGI Annual Meeting

  • Manage current high-level sponsor relationships (focusing on large level sponsors and key community members).
  • Drive project management and execution of sponsor deliverables (ie, speaking role placement, PRTs, topic dinners, etc.) in partnership with various CGI colleagues.
  • Identify new avenues for incremental revenue with partners or additional opportunities for partnership growth.
  • Lead partnership renewal efforts as requested.

Support new sponsor, member and ticket lead generation

  • Develop, implement, and lead CGI 2025 ticketing and audience outreach/engagement strategy geared towards hitting revenue goals.
  • Engage network for new revenue and partnership opportunities for CGI.
  • Join pitch calls and support the sales cycle for new sponsors and members.
  • Drive and finalize bulk ticket packages (5+) in partnership with CGI and CF development colleagues.
  • Reach attendee goals with a targeted, diverse, and strategic audience based on event/meeting goals and focuses.
  • Lead internal Community Growth team coordination.
  • Collaborate with CGI membership team as needed.

Manage the Community Growth Team (3 staff)

  • Lead the team in setting clear goals and expectations for 2025.
  • Give and solicit feedback from reports and peers regularly as both part of formal review processes and informal day-to-day touchpoints.
  • Actively coach and develop team members.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Community Growth team and other teams in (both within CGI as well as withing the Clinton Foundation).

September Annual Meeting Onsite Support

  • Onsite project and relationship management for sponsor accounts at the CGI Annual Meeting.

Minimum Qualifications  

What we’re looking for: 

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility. At least 1 of those years must have been directing a team or multiple projects or a function.
  • Ability to take initiative and lead projects end-to-end.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams to complete deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Experience managing large lists and datasets and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to excel in customer service and external facing role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive.
  • Experience using Blackbaud or other CRM systems is a plus.
  • Experience using Airtable or other project management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a varying schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work overtime if needed in preparation for CGI events

Compensation & Benefits 

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $50 - 60/hour, depending on the experience you bring. This role is not for overtime pay. This range is based on NYC market rates and may be adjusted if you will be working remotely.  We look forward to discussing our compensation pricing strategy, and your expectations, throughout the interview process.
