Quality Assurance Engineer

On Site, Palo Alto, California

Clockwork.io is a Silicon Valley startup that delivers state-of-the-art AI compute acceleration.

We are founded by Stanford researchers and veteran systems engineers with a shared belief: distributed systems powering modern AI require a new approach to managing time, reliability, and performance. Unlike traditional solutions that rely on specialized hardware or embedded telemetry in switches, Clockwork’s system brings insane visibility, resilience, acceleration and efficiency to the network layer entirely through software. As AI workloads continue to scale in size, urgency, and impact, networks must evolve to keep up. Clockwork exists to make that evolution possible.

About Us

Clockwork.io – A Software-Driven Revolution in AI Networking

Clockwork Systems was founded by Stanford researchers and veteran systems engineers who share a vision for redefining the foundations of distributed computing. As AI workloads grow increasingly complex, traditional infrastructure struggles to meet the demands of performance, reliability, and precise coordination. Clockwork is pioneering a software-driven approach to AI networking, delivering deterministic time, ultra-low latency, and seamless scalability for modern distributed systems.

Summary

We are looking for a QA & Test Infrastructure Engineer who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and is excited to own our entire testing and CI/CD infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of every release before it reaches our customers.

This is a hands-on engineering role, not a manual QA position. You’ll be deeply embedded in our engineering team, responsible for building robust automation, maintaining pipelines, and contributing directly to the product during quieter times.

What You will do

  • Own and maintain the CI/CD testing infrastructure and pipeline
  • Ensure all code releases meet high quality standards before shipping to customers
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to build and maintain unit, integration, and system tests
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and build tools or frameworks to fill them
  • Investigate and diagnose build failures, flaky tests, and regressions.
  • Contribute to engineering efforts beyond QA when appropriate (feature development, tooling, etc.)

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in a QA, DevOps, or Test Engineering role with a strong technical background
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
  • Experience writing automated tests and working with testing frameworks (e.g., Testify, Gtest, JUnit, etc.)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Java, etc.)
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • A startup mindset — self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to take ownership

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a foundational team shaping the future of infrastructure software.
  • Work onsite in a collaborative environment in Palo Alto
  • Opportunity to grow into broader engineering roles

Enjoy

  • Challenging projects.
  • A friendly and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • A great benefits package.
  • Catered lunch.
