Senior Software Engineer
What Makes Cloudbeds Unique
At Cloudbeds, we're not just building software, we’re transforming hospitality. Our intelligently designed platform powers properties across 150 countries, processing billions in bookings annually. From independent properties to hotel groups, we help hoteliers transform operations and uplevel their commercial strategy through a unified platform that integrates with hundreds of partners. And we do it with a completely remote team. Imagine working alongside global innovators to build AI-powered solutions that solve hoteliers' biggest challenges. Since our founding in 2012, we've become the World's Best Hotel PMS Solutions Provider and landed on Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 again in 2024, but we're just getting started.
How You'll Make an Impact:
As a Senior Back End Software Engineer on our Integrations team, you will help design and deliver the APIs, marketplace, and infrastructure that let our third-party partners integrate with Cloudbeds and extend the experience and features available to our customers. Your work will be critical to the success of Cloudbeds and its partner ecosystem, delivering high reliability and quality in a distributed cloud environment spanning Cloudbeds and our partners.
Our development strategy is to deliver trusted, scalable, and reliable products leveraging the best of modern technologies, tools, and standards. For this role we are looking for someone who has worked with a broad range of patterns, practices, libraries, and frameworks. You will participate in strategic decisions regarding the use of libraries and tools, and you will assist with the refinement of requirements, architectural design, exploratory development, creation of new components, and the adoption of new tools and techniques.
Our Integrations Team:
The Integrations team owns the surface where Cloudbeds meets everything else: the partner APIs and marketplace, and the connectors to the accounting, point-of-sale, revenue management, door lock, and channel systems our customers run their properties on. We also build the integrations that keep our customers compliant with the tax, fiscal, and guest-reporting authorities in each market we sell into, where deadlines are set by legislation rather than by roadmap. You'll join a pragmatic, collaborative team that values ownership, defensive design, and engineers who are comfortable making systems they only half control behave reliably.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Participate as a member of an agile engineering team, contributing (following best practices) to our application codebase daily
- Develop in the existing codebase using PHP and Java
- Engage in discussions on complex technical concepts and requirements with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Write clean, well-tested, well-documented, and elegant code
- Support a team environment where skill, knowledge, and capability are fostered and highly valued
- Drive our API to be loved by our partners, enabling them to deliver their work into the Cloudbeds ecosystem at high scale
- Design resilient event-driven workflows, including idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling, and reconciliation, so that a partner outage degrades gracefully instead of losing data
- Assist in researching new technologies to ensure the best fit, quality, and outcome
- Collaborate with our customers and partners to find the best solution to problems
What Sets You Up for Success:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production applications, with strong proficiency in a language like Java / Python / TypeScript / PHP
- Solid understanding of relational data modeling, PostgreSQL, caching, API design, distributed systems, and asynchronous or event-driven workflows
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including maintainable architecture, automated testing, debugging, performance, security, and operational reliability
- A passion for developers and APIs, no matter what platform or language they use
- A solid understanding of REST APIs and best practices
- Experience within an organization that focused on high availability, scalability, security, automation, and observability
- Dedication towards observability by leveraging metrics, experiments, and prototypes to ensure decisions are data-driven
- Strong knowledge and a passion for software engineering best practices, design patterns, and automated testing
- Experience owning cloud-native delivery and operations, including Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, AWS, CI/CD, observability, and production incident response
- Strong teamwork and time management skills
- Business-level English fluency, with strong written communication and collaboration skills in a remote, globally distributed team
