Senior Technical Consultant, Google Cloud

CloudWerx is looking for a SENIOR TECHNICAL CONSULTANT, GOOGLE CLOUD to join our collaborative PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TEAM, remotely. 

As a Senior Technical Consultant specializing in Google Cloud Platform, you will be a seasoned technical leader within our Google Cloud consulting practice. Leveraging your deep expertise in the GCP environment, you will be instrumental in guiding clients through their cloud adoption journey, ensuring successful implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions. This role requires a highly experienced and hands-on technical professional who can balance strategic thinking with practical execution. You will be expected to be client-facing and billable for a significant portion of your time, applying your knowledge to solve complex challenges and deliver tangible value.  We will be working with some of the most advanced technology companies in Silicon Valley who are pushing the envelope of technology.

This role is an immediate full-time position.

 

Insight on your impact

  • Engagement Scoping and Planning:
    • Collaborate with client stakeholders, sales, engineering and project management to understand client needs and define scope and project timelines.
    • Contribute to the development of accurate Level of Effort (LoE) estimates, ensuring alignment with project goals and profitability targets.
    • Identify potential technical risks and propose mitigation strategies during the pre-sales process.
    • Assess client environments and provide recommendations on optimal GCP architectures and service utilization.
  • Technical Leadership and Guidance:
    • Lead technical discussions with clients, articulating complex GCP concepts and solutions clearly and concisely.
    • Define and document target architectures, technical standards, and implementation roadmaps for GCP projects.
    • Ensure alignment of technical solutions with client business objectives, compliance requirements, and GCP best practices.
    • Facilitate technical workshops to gather requirements, address concerns, and build consensus.
  • Solution Design and Implementation:
    • Actively participate in the design, development, and deployment of GCP-based solutions.
    • Provide hands-on technical expertise in areas such as infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, CI/CD pipelines, and application modernization on GCP.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on various GCP services, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, and more.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing expert guidance to project teams.
  • Quality Assurance and Best Practices:
    • Conduct regular reviews of project deliverables to ensure adherence to architectural standards, GCP best practices, and security/compliance guidelines.
    • Provide proactive technical mentorship and guidance to consulting team members.
    • Contribute to the development of internal best practices, methodologies, and reusable assets for GCP engagements.
    • Monitor project progress and provide technical oversight to ensure successful delivery.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all proposed and implemented solutions meet stringent security and compliance requirements, leveraging GCP’s native security controls and best practices.
    • Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and translate those requirements into actionable technical guidance.
    • Participate in security assessments and recommend improvements to enhance the security posture of client environments on GCP.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key technical stakeholders at client organizations.  
    • Serve as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance and recommendations on their GCP strategy and implementation.
    • Identify opportunities for follow-on work and contribute to the growth of our GCP consulting practice.

Your qualifications, your influence

To be successful in the role, you must possess the following skills

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep and demonstrable hands-on experience architecting, implementing, and managing solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    • Proficiency in designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and cost-optimized cloud architectures on GCP.
    • Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, Terraform, Shell scripting).
    • Expertise in DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
    • Solid understanding of networking principles and their application within GCP.
    • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE).
    • Familiarity with data management and analytics services on GCP (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Storage).
    • Strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM) within GCP.
    • Familiarity of different Cloud Platform like AWS, Azure is nice to have 
  • Consulting and Leadership Skills:
    • Proven ability to lead technical engagements and drive successful outcomes for clients.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges.  
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Experience mentoring and guiding junior technical consultants.
  • Compliance and Security:
    • Thorough understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks relevant to GCP.
    • Experience implementing and auditing secure cloud environments.
