Fabric R&D Manager

Role and Responsibilities
- Drive seasonal fabric development and sourcing working with design and merchandising to understand business needs, target margins and calendar deadlines from development through production.
- Meet with mill partners regularly to make tailored fabric selections based on seasonal needs keeping in mind cost, lead time, and minimums.
- Negotiate cost seasonally
- Nominate and partner with key mills
- Drive the fabric ordering process at proto, sales sample, and bulk stages.
- Coordinate and track proto, sales sample, and bulk fabric shipments. Ensure PI goes out on time from vendors to mills at every stage
- Partner with manager to develop and track seasonal fabric and print budgets
- Meet fabric deliverables as per calendar.
- Regularly update and maintain seasonal fabric charts and communicate details/changes with cross functional teams.
- Work in conjunction with the Hong Kong office to confirm fabric detail sheets and create Material ID numbers in Flex PLM.
- Initiate lab dip, strike off and handloom requests with mills advising clear calendar deadlines.
- Check in lab dips, strike offs and handlooms upon receipt and review with design and advise comments back to mills.
- Maintain the fabric library, regularly making space for new headers, purging outdated headers, and maintaining core archives.
- Review fabric test reports to ensure company guidelines and standards are met and send approval comments.
- Bulk submit approvals
- Partner with cross functional teams to achieve objectives related to cost, delivery, and quality.
- Communicate material quality standards to mills.
- Offer expertise on fabric construction, innovation, and technical aspects.
- Willingness to travel abroad seasonally as needed.
Experience and Qualifications
- Flex PLM
- Strong Technical background
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Clear understanding of dying, printing, and finishing techniques
- Self-starter
- Detail oriented
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Club Monaco includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.
A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $80,000 per year to $85,000 per year.
