Designer, Women's & Men's Sweaters, Knits & CWA

Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and create compelling, brand-right Women’s & Men’s sweaters, cold weather accessories and cut & sew knits.
- Engage in all aspects of design and development such as sketching, swatch and yarn development, and attending fittings from development through production.
- Work closely with Design Director and cross-functional teams to build brand-right products that support Club Monaco’s financial, design and merchandising strategies.
- Strong hand and computer sketching skills with a clear understanding of proportions and finishings.
- Identify key seasonal sweater and knitwear trends as well as product offerings from competitive brands in the market.
- Create yarn, fabric and trim sourcing directives, related to the seasonal concept, for agents, mills and Club Monaco’s international sourcing office.
- Launch knit downs, swatch and stitch development packages, lab dips and strike-offs. Review all developments, washes, bulk approvals, & trims to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with the print & color team on development and execution of artworks, layouts, etc.
- Attend yarn shows, when applicable, to review new seasonal collections and presentations.
- CAD styles for clear visuals and easy communication with cross functioning teams.
- Create tech packs with clear and detailed specifications, measurements and construction diagrams. Execute detailed drawings and input BOMs in PLM.
- Evaluate and maintain pertinent BOMs, sketches and trim details.
- Own the tech pack process while building and maintaining a strong collaboration with the Technical Design Team.
- Ensure the processes are as efficient and productive as possible to meet seasonal deliverables.
- Attend all prototype and production fittings to give precise feedback and ensure design intent is intact. Present styles to design lead and merchandising team during proto fittings and final sample reviews. All changes must be reflected in updated sketches and BOMs on PLM.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team on chase styles and exclusives.
- Develop strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Technical Design, Merchandising, and Production to achieve common objectives. Attend weekly cross-functional meetings to review key deliverables.
- Partner with Production to ensure targeted costs and margins are met.
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining the yarn & trim libraries and updating seasonal digital design boards.
- This position reports to the Design Director of Sweaters and Knits.
Qualifications
- 7+ years industry experience in sweater and cut & sew knits design.
- Background in designer & contemporary brands preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in fashion design, with a focus in sweaters design preferred.
- Creative with ability to develop innovative ideas and concepts that meet our brand initiatives and customer’s needs.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to multitask and manage multiple seasons simultaneously.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced working environment and flexible to pivot based on business objectives.
- Strong hand and computer sketching skills. Ability to communicate designs clearly.
- Extensive knowledge of garment construction and experience in fitting sweaters and knits.
- Experience sourcing yarns and knit textiles with knowledge of diverse fibers and qualities.
- Collaborative approach to design and able to give and receive constructive criticism.
- Clear communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, Procreate.
- Experience in PLM & Figma is a strong plus.
- This position is full-time and works in the office five days a week.
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Club Monaco includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.
A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
