Director of India HR and Operations

CMT is looking for a collaborative, customer-committed, and creative Director of India HR and Operations who wants to join us in making roads safer by making drivers better!
Responsibilities:
- Lead India operations and HR functions, managing compliance, legal, vendor, and people operations.
- Manage and support a high-performing local team, including direct reports across HR, facilities, and operational roles.
- Partner with global and regional leadership on strategic planning and goal setting for India operations.
- Oversee and maintain compliance with all Indian labor, tax, safety, and corporate regulations.
- Own operational logistics and infrastructure for the India office, ensuring a productive and well-equipped workplace.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global HR to drive recruiting, onboarding, and employee development efforts in India.
- Build and implement localized policies, procedures, and documentation to support operational efficiency and compliance.
- Lead budgeting, financial reporting, local audits, and invoicing activities for the India office.
- Act as point of contact for all India-specific legal, tax, or regulatory issues and coordinate with external advisors as needed.
- Develop and promote a strong, inclusive, values-driven culture in line with CMT’s global mission.
- Oversee employee engagement, training, and wellness programs for the India team.
- Manage vendor relationships including facilities, security, health benefits, and payroll service providers.
- Support India leadership and contribute to broader organizational initiatives to scale globally.
- Complete any additional tasks that arise
Qualifications:
- 9+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years of operational and/or HR leadership, preferably in a high-tech or global environment.
- Deep knowledge of Indian employment law, labor practices, compliance and tax frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and scale operational infrastructure.
- Strong people management and team-building skills.
- Experience with HRIS platforms and working with global HR systems.
- Familiarity with budgeting, finance, and procurement processes.
- Ability to exercise discretion and handle sensitive company information with confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Chennai, with the ability to work in-office at least 3 days per week.
