Job Summary:

The Summer Associate will support the Funds Tax team with tax compliance, reporting, research, and project responsibilities across Cohen & Steers’ diverse set of registered and private funds. The Tax team is within the Investment Administration department which encompasses several teams including Fund Administration, Investment Performance, Client Reporting, Global Investment Operations; and Client Onboarding teams, which support both institutional separate accounts and funds. This role will include exposure and collaboration with all back-office operations teams as well as other departments within the firm. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Assist the Tax team with oversight of external tax service providers by tracking and reviewing tax returns and provision workpapers for Regulated Investment Companies, Real Estate Investment Trusts and partnerships, including K-1 investor reporting
  • Help gather information and perform first-pass reviews for special projects, including: new securities, REIT adjustments, corporate actions, projections, financial modeling, REIT acquisition diligence
  • Assist with private fund quarterly reporting and partner capital account statement review through workpaper tie-outs, capital roll-forward checks, and open-item tracking
  • Assist with tax research, process documentation and improvement, Excel-based workpaper enhancements, and other projects as needed
  • Use approved AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to support research, data analysis, process documentation, and workflow improvements
  • Support the preparation of presentations and related materials for management, committee, and board reporting purposes

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Undergraduate student with an expected graduation date in 2028
  • Demonstrated interest in tax, investment management, real estate, and financial services
  • Familiar with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Copilot
  • Interest in learning and responsibly using new technologies, including AI-enabled tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail
  • Must be able and willing to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Motivated, receptive to learning, and able to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives
  • Able to meet the firm's work arrangement policy in our New York City office (5 days in-office)
