That’s why we’re seeking a Product Manager accountable for overseeing and driving the development and success of Clinical Trials products, innovations and digital tools, from initial concept to launch ensuring they are fit-for-purpose, driving business growth, regulatory compliant and fully meeting the needs of a range of end users.  They will  own the definition and development of platform capabilities, products and solutions for digital cognitive testing and data quality monitoring of clinical endpoints, supportive of operational efficiencies, decentralized methodologies, partner integrations and self-service models.

The product manager will be responsible for the coordination of market research, gathering customer insights and defining and prioritizing product features and requirements.   This includes the development of design assets in the form of user personas, user stories, use cases, workflows and other supporting materials. They will contribute to the development and maintenance of the overall Clinical Trials product roadmap, owning the development, delivery and communications around their assigned products.  The product manager will communicate product progress and updates to stakeholders while driving prioritization decisions, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and business impact.

This role will require an analytical and flexible mindset and extensive communication and collaboration between stakeholders in multiple geographies and functions, including close alignment with product development, science, rater services, data services and other Cogstate business units, such as Healthcare, to identify and leverage synergies around features and capabilities as well as inform product decisions.    

Support and product management responsibilities described for this role may extend to Cogstate Healthcare products as needed by the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Product Management leadership, drive the identification, definition, and benchmarking of existing clinical trials products and services
  • Lead the product lifecycle from discovery to launch and iteration, including product replacement and phase-out (when appropriate) ensuring high quality and timely delivery for Clinical Trials products
  • Define and maintain product roadmap/backlog and feature level KPIs, consistent with the needs of end users and customers and the Cogstate vision.
  • In collaboration with product management leadership, identify, define and prioritize internal product needs through business function leader interactions and regular product swim lane reviews.   
  • Conduct market and end user research to identify unmet needs and prioritize action based on business strategy
  • Engage with end users and customers via interviews, focus groups and other techniques to develop and maintain a clear understanding of need and the external environment
  • Create and maintain end user and customer personas and journey maps
  • Collaborate with key internal business stakeholders to prioritize and align customer requests and translate into product requirements
  • Translate customer needs into feasible, viable and desirable product features by collaborating with design, engineering, product owner, business and marketing functions
  • Work closely with product ownership function, making sure they are providing requirements to engineering based on project/feature scope and priority defined by business stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Product Development, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance throughout the product delivery and software engineering frameworks to support the documentation and design needs such as scoping, planning, estimation, QA and QC, and AGILE ceremonies.
  • Work in close collaboration with Product owner, translating business-to-technical requirements, and vice versa 
  • Support the Engineering and Product Development teams in developing release timelines.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations of project scope, progress and delivery timelines
  • Adaptably take on select product ownership type activities where needed 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, business or scientific discipline (eg. engineering, computer science, psychology), Advanced Degree (MBA/MS) preferred.
  • Relevant product management related certifications such as AIPMM Certified Product Manager/ Product School preferred
  • Associated certifications such as PMP/Agile/SAFe preferred
  • 4+ years product management experience, preferably in clinical trials or healthcare settings 
  • Demonstrated experience in customer-facing product research, conceptualization, development launch and issue resolution
  • Experience working in an Agile/Nexus development environment preferred.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data-driven product development initiatives.
  • Experience using Agile/Software management tools eg. JIRA
  • Proven ability to launch SaaS features/products on web and mobile platforms in a highly regulated environment
  • Strong conceptual understanding of SaaS architectures and deployment models, APIs, Integrations, data flows, and cloud-based systems handling sensitive data.
  • Understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts and artificial intelligence tools

Skills, Knowledge and Specialist Expertise

  • Working knowledge of technical concepts such as APIs, database/datawarehousing, microservices and user analytics
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle phase concept and ability to manage competing priorities effectively 
  • Excellent problem solving/decision making skills.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial workflows, including site operations, patient experience, and clinical data capture/endpoints  
  • Good understanding of industry standards such as 21 CFR, GxP and GDPR
  • Excellent problem solving/decision making skills

Wage Range

$140,000 - $150,000 USD
