About CoLab

At CoLab, we want to help mechanical engineering teams bring life-changing products to market years sooner.

CoLab is a cloud based platform for engineering design review. We make it easy for subject matter experts (SMEs) across your business to access, evaluate, and comment on 2D drawings and 3D models. Our built-in AI peer checker, AutoReview, can analyze designs for you and spot common errors or non-compliance with your standards and guidelines. AutoReview creates markups and comments on your files, in context – just like a human checker.

With CoLab, human SMEs and AI work together to help you make better decisions and improve designs faster. We automatically capture knowledge from across your global business that would otherwise be buried in emails, spreadsheets, slide decks, and unknown locations in Sharepoint or PLM. Then, we make sure every lesson learned and every design guideline is applied exactly when it matters.

Companies like Johnson Controls, Komatsu, Schaeffler, and Polaris have launched products 40% faster, cut BOM costs by 50%, and reduced quality escapes by 15% in 1 year.

About the Role

Engineering leaders are actively trying to understand where AI fits into their workflows and how to evaluate new tools with confidence. As CoLab increases its investment in SEO and AEO, high-quality, answer-driven content has become a core growth lever.

As SEO Content Manager, you’ll own the creation of content that directly answers the questions our audience is already asking about AI in mechanical engineering and ensures those answers are discoverable in both search engines and AI/chat engines.

This is a writer-first role. Your primary output will be 800–1,000 word blog posts that lead with a clear, direct answer to a specific question, then expand into the context, nuances, and follow-on considerations required to fully understand that answer. SEO fundamentals matter, but credibility, clarity, and usefulness matter more.

You’ll work closely with our Digital Marketing Manager and Director of Demand Gen, who bring strong keyword and performance fluency. You’ll bring judgment, authorship, and ownership over what content gets created, how topics are scoped, and why they’re worth publishing.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • You’re a senior writer who enjoys mastering complex technical topics and explaining them clearly to skeptical, intelligent readers. You’re comfortable owning a critical content stream end to end.

You’ll thrive in this role if:

    • You like answering hard questions directly and precisely
    • You’re opinionated about what should be written and what shouldn’t
    • You’re energized by autonomy and accountability

You probably won’t enjoy this role if:

    • You prefer managing content rather than writing it
    • You rely on fluff, templates, or vague thought leadership
    • You optimize primarily for impressions instead of understanding

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end execution of CoLab’s SEO- and AEO-focused written content
  • Write high-quality, long-form blog posts that answer specific AI-in-engineering questions with clarity and credibility
  • Translate keyword opportunities into thoughtful topic proposals, scopes, and outlines and push back when a keyword doesn’t deserve content
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and depth
  • Partner with Digital Marketing and Demand Gen to align content with keyword strategy, site structure, and performance insights
  • Continuously improve content based on engagement, discoverability, and qualitative feedback not just rankings

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience writing content for technical or expert audiences
  • Strong working knowledge of SEO fundamentals, including keyword research, search intent, and on-page optimization
  • Proven ability to learn complex domains and translate them into clear, accurate writing
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to produce credible content
  • Strong writing craft (clarity, structure, and precision matter here)
  • Bonus: experience writing for engineers, manufacturing, or industrial technology audiences

Extra Details

  • This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive compensation package that includes stock options.
  • Extended health and benefits package, including unlimited paid vacation and RRSP matching.
  • Flexible remote opportunities across North America, with a hybrid office hub in St. John’s, NL.

Equity Note

Frequently cited statistics show that people who identify with historically marginalized groups are likely to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to help us break that statistic and apply even if you don’t meet every single qualification—your potential is what matters most to us.
