We are seeking a talented and experienced Architect to join our dynamic team and lead the design process for cutting-edge data center projects. We are a fast-growing company with projects ranging from interior data hall fit outs to multi-building hyperscale/wholesale campuses. The current data center industry is evolving rapidly, and we are looking for a design leader to help drive us into the future of data center design through the various demands of liquid cooling, sustainability, on-site generation alternatives, phased deployments, and more.
What you do daily:
- Lead Design Excellence: Own and manage the entire design process for data center construction projects, ensuring high-quality and efficient outcomes. This will begin with conceptual and programmatic development through to project close out.
- Develop and Uphold Standards: Create and control the design and construction Basis of Design and standards for our data centers, adjusting for current and future technology to set the benchmark for excellence.
- Ensure Compliance: Review and approve material and equipment specifications to guarantee adherence to design standards and building codes. Support the project with the local authorities during due diligence through design submission and permitting.
- Optimize Space Utilization: Design customer leasing layouts for fit-up spaces, including public and front-of-house areas, maximizing efficiency and resource utilization while creating high quality, aesthetically pleasing and functional spaces.
- Collaborate with Partners: Manage relationships with external consultants and design firms, ensuring project alignment and quality remain consistent across the company portfolio.
- Problem Solve Effectively: Must be able to represent the company in quality, cost, and schedule decisions, working closely with the design and construction team to achieve resolution to issues. Coordinate RFI responses between external design teams and internal management.
- Maintain Quality Assurance: Review project documents for quality and consistency, conducting site walks to ensure construction meets design specifications.
- Communicate Strategically: Engage with corporate executives to communicate project status and strategic initiatives. Regularly work with multiple internal groups to ensure the strategic growth of the company is reflected in the building designs and delivery. Work with the Business Strategy group to develop business cases for prospective projects, including cost-benefit analysis and ROI projections.
- Manage Your Workflow: Prioritize tasks and manage your workflow effectively to meet project deadlines and objectives. We work in a fast-paced environment where today’s data center design is rapidly evolving. Staying on top of current requirements and aligning that with the company strategy is important for our success.
What makes you a good fit:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Must be a licensed architect.
- 5+ years of proven experience in data center design and construction. 10+ years total experience.
- Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems, and site requirements. Familiarity with traditional and current MEP systems specific to data center design.
- Proficient in current design technology and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and delegate responsibilities to both internal and external staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of external partners as well as all levels internally.
- Ability to lead and work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. This position will also be eligible for an annual bonus.
Salary Range
$190,000 - $225,000 USD
