  • Support the design and specification of mechanical infrastructure including liquid-to-liquid and liquid-to-air cooling systems, rear-door heat exchangers, in-row/in-rack CDUs, CRAH and Fan Wall systems, heat exchangers, primary/secondary pump systems, looped data hall mechanical piping, PLC-based BMS control systems, and ventilation systems.
  • Oversee mechanical system design and implementation including review of MEP engineering consultant designs, controls design document review, sequence of operations review and development, review and approval of mechanical and control system submittals, and verification of mechanical/controls compliance with Owner Project Requirements (OPR).
  • Provide review and approval of air and liquid interior/exterior CFD studies/reports.
  • Guide the development of mechanical system layouts, equipment sizing, and engineering calculations.
  • Analyze system performance, thermal loading, and airflow dynamics to inform design decisions.
  • Review design drawings, submittals, and shop documents for accuracy and constructability.

Engineering Support for development & Construction

  • Lead external architectural, civil/structural, and MEP engineering teams during site selection, design development, and permitting.
  • Support construction teams with RFI responses, design clarifications, installation oversight, and mechanical construction QA/QC.
  • Participate in factory witness testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing for new builds and retrofits.
  • Write mechanical equipment specifications and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure alignment with capacity and performance requirements.
  • Manage as-constructed Revit models for Colovore internal use including development of digital twins.

Operations Support & System Optimization

  • Support operations teams in troubleshooting, tuning, and optimizing mechanical systems across active data centers.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for mechanical issues or performance deviations.
  • Analyze operational data to identify efficiency improvements, reliability enhancements, and capacity-planning insights.
  • Assist in drafting, updating, and reviewing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) related to mechanical system operation and maintenance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Controls Engineers, Operations, and Facilities teams to ensure proper mechanical system integration and operational effectiveness.
  • Work with Development, Finance, and Business Units to provide mechanical design input for feasibility studies and cost models.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, energy-efficiency improvements, and innovation in high-density liquid cooling approaches.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Write, update and maintain mechanical system documentation, including Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), engineering specifications, record (as-built) design documents, equipment vendor information, factory test and commissioning test results, and system performance analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering summaries, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all mechanical engineering work aligns with regulatory, code, safety, and security compliance requirements.

Key Skills

  • Proven experience designing concurrently maintainable, high-availability HVAC systems with a focus on liquid-cooling in mission-critical environments.

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations (PUE/WUE, thermal loading, pump/pipe sizing, airflow, pressure drop, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cooling strategies such as various air-cooled chiller technologies (screw compressor, magnetic bearing), thermal energy storage systems, adiabatic/dry coolers, and in-row/in-rack CDUs.
  • Experience leading engineering consultant design teams in coordination with architects, civil/structural engineers, and specialty consultants (environmental/acoustical).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose system issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interfacing with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and construction/operations functions.
  • Familiarity with current engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, CFD modeling software, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and project follow-through.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing projects.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of mechanical engineering experience in data center design & construction.
  • Minimum 3 years of leading and mentoring mid-level and entry level engineers and designer.
  • Hands-on experience leading and executing data center mechanical system design, construction administration, all levels of commissioning, and operations support.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, building codes, and data center mechanical engineering best practices.
  • Ability to manage external consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; PE preferred.

What Success Looks Like

  • New construction data centers designed, constructed, and commissioned on time and on budget to meet high-density power and cooling performance requirements.
  • Effective design team leadership through clear, effective communications, timely decision making, and proactive problem solving.
  • Accurate, timely engineering support that keeps development and construction projects moving efficiently.
  • Reduced downtime and improved cooling performance for live facilities through root-cause analysis and proactive system tuning.
  • Strong cross-functional alignment on design decisions and operational improvements.
  • Well written engineering requirements, specifications, reports, procedures, checklists, and test documents for mechanical systems that support construction efficiency and quality, minimize commissioning issues, enable effective maintenance and operations, and facilitate future expansions.
  • Measurable improvements in mechanical efficiency, sustainability, and thermal capacity.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
