The Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the environmental, health, and safety programs that support safe operations across Colovore’s data center sites and construction projects. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture that protects employees, contractors, and customers.
The EHS Manager partners closely with Facilities, Construction, Operations, and vendor teams to identify risks, implement safety programs, and continuously improve workplace safety practices. This role combines regulatory expertise, operational awareness, and hands-on engagement in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Program Development & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide Environmental Health & Safety programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Maintain safety documentation, procedures, and reporting processes.
- Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reporting.
- Track and report safety metrics, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Manage air permitting, chemical inventory reporting, water/wastewater/stormwater compliance, SPCC plans, emergency response planning, and other environmental requirements for facilities, operations, and construction projects.
Workplace Safety & Risk Management
- Identify potential hazards across data center operations, construction sites, and vendor activities.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and site safety inspections.
- Develop and enforce safe work practices for high-risk activities including electrical work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and working at heights.
- Partner with site leadership to mitigate safety risks and ensure safe operating procedures.
Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and environmental events.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain incident reporting systems and ensure timely documentation.
- Identify trends and proactively implement safety improvements.
Training & Safety Culture
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Ensure completion of required safety certifications and training programs.
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.
- Partner with managers to reinforce safe behaviors and accountability.
Construction & Vendor Safety Oversight
- Support safety oversight for construction and development projects.
- Review contractor safety plans and ensure compliance with site safety standards.
- Conduct site safety walkthroughs and audits during construction phases.
- Partner with project teams to ensure safe project execution and compliance with safety regulations.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Experience developing and implementing EHS programs.
- Ability to travel to conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
- Ability to influence safety culture across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience working in operational or industrial environments.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Experience managing third-party consultants.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety roles.
- Experience supporting operations, industrial, manufacturing, or mission-critical environments.
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance requirements and safety program management.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience working with contractors and vendor safety programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or OSHA certifications are a plus.
