Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Technician to join our team supporting mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or high-availability industrial facilities. As part of a leading electrical contracting firm, you will be responsible for the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems that are essential to continuous operations.
This role demands a technician with a strong understanding of electrical systems, control logic, and the precision required in environments where downtime is not an option.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors, as well as control devices.
- Read and interpret electrical, instrumentation, and control drawings (P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics).
- Work closely with electricians, project managers, and commissioning teams to ensure system integrity and operational readiness.
- Configure and troubleshoot control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and DDC systems.
- Perform loop checks, signal testing, and commissioning tasks in accordance with QA/QC protocols.
- Support preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and client specifications.
- Document work through daily logs, redlines, and as-built drawings.
- Respond to emergency calls and support 24/7 uptime requirements as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or similar preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, preferably in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, pharma, healthcare, utilities, etc.).
- Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Experience with PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and industrial networking is a plus.
- Ability to use calibration equipment, multimeters, loop calibrators, and other diagnostic tools.
- OSHA 10/30 certification and other safety credentials preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Must be able to pass background checks and drug screening
