Position Description:

Community Change is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Community Associate to join our Communications team. This position is ideal for a strategic communicator with a deep commitment to social justice and 1 year of experience crafting compelling content across digital platforms. The Digital Community Associate will help shape and amplify Community Change’s voice through social media, toolkits, and advocacy materials that reflect the priorities and lived experiences of the communities we serve.

Working closely with the Director of Digital Strategy and other members of the Communications and Organizing teams, the Digital Community Associate will manage and produce written content and engagement strategies that support Community Change’s organizing, advocacy, and narrative work on issues such as immigrant rights, economic justice, and racial equity. This person will play a key role in growing our reach, deepening engagement, and translating campaign goals into powerful, accessible content.

This role may also support the work of Community Change Action, our affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Draft and maintain a rolling content calendar at least two weeks in advance, aligned with campaign goals and organizational priorities.
  • Develop first drafts of digital advocacy materials, including social media posts, graphics text, and email copy.
  • Develop digital metrics and performance reports to inform strategy.
  • Assist in day-to-day online engagement efforts, including monitoring comments and community interaction across platforms.
  • Draft and format social media toolkits to support partners, allies, and grassroots campaigns.
  • Collaborate with larger comms team research to inform content development and digital strategy.
  • Write persuasive, accessible copy for use across platforms, including social media and digital advocacy.
  • Support integration of digital storytelling into broader campaign narratives and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in content creation, digital organizing, online community management, or digital advocacy.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a portfolio of content created for digital platforms (social media, email, websites, etc.).
  • Experience using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok) for campaigns and community engagement.
  • Familiarity with digital metrics and reporting tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience with drafting and managing content calendars and digital workflows.
  • Ability to translate complex policy or advocacy goals into accessible and motivating content.
  • Experience with toolkits and social media guides for partners or grassroots audiences is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Commitment to Community Change’s mission, values, and vision for grassroots-led social change.
  • Collaborative spirit and a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow as part of a cross-functional team.

This position reports to: Director of Digital Strategy

Supervisory Responsibility: N/A 

Travel Requirements: Up to 5%

Salary and Benefits: Salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 annually. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1 and a Summer Break the week of July  4th; 8% employer contribution to a retirement account after six months of employment (and 3%  employer contribution for the first 6 months); cell phone and internet stipend; and a choice of generous health insurance plans. 

Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE  Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change's bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. 

Location: This is a remote position, with the ability to be based anywhere in the U.S. Staff based outside of the D.C. area work from home offices or from designated shared office spaces.  Eastern time zone hours preferred.
