Director, Sales Engineering – ANZ
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Sales Engineering Director to lead our ANZ Sales Engineering team. This role is pivotal in driving customer value through our Software and SaaS offerings, with a strong emphasis on cyber resilience, data protection, and cloud solutions. You'll work closely with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to articulate our value proposition, lead technical sales motions, and coach a high-performing team across the region.
This is a leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, trust, and commercial impact.
Key Objectives:
Drive regional technical sales excellence
Lead the technical pre-sales strategy and execution across Australia and New Zealand to achieve or exceed revenue goals and customer growth.
Scale and coach the Sales Engineering team
Build a high-performing, customer-facing technical team with deep knowledge across Commvault’s product portfolio, partner ecosystem, and customer use cases.
Enhance Customer Experience and Technical Trust
Strengthen relationships with strategic customers by positioning Commvault as a leader & trusted advisor in secure data management, cyber resilience, and cloud.
Bridge field insights to product strategy
Provide structured, data-driven feedback to global product and engineering teams based on customer needs, win/loss trends, and emerging security/data requirements in ANZ.
How you will make an impact:
Leadership & Organisational Growth
- Develop, improve, and maintain the Sales Engineering organisation and processes to meet and exceed sales goals.
- Ensure technical and professional development goals are set and met across the SE team.
- Plan and manage team resourcing to support a broad and diverse customer base across ANZ.
- Ensure the team is fully trained and up to date on Commvault’s positioning, solutions, services, and partner solutions.
Sales Alignment & Customer Engagement
- Partner closely with regional Sales leadership to meet business objectives and drive the successful architecture, sale, and deployment of Commvault solutions.
- Promote solution selling over product selling, focusing on outcomes and customer value.
- Personally engage with key accounts, developing executive-level relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor.
- Lead strategic customer engagements including workshops, technical validations, and roadmap discussions.
Operational Excellence
- Understand and escalate customer issues and enhancement requests to Product, Support, and Engineering teams as needed.
- Improve the customer experience by enhancing internal knowledge sharing and coordination between pre-sales, post-sales, and product teams.
- Perform win/loss analysis to improve sales execution and provide insights to the global product organisation.
- Implement and scale pre-sales methodologies, tools, and KPIs to drive consistency and performance.
What you will bring:
- A proven track record of 10+ years in pre-sales, sales engineering, or solutions consulting in a Software or SaaS company.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience, managing distributed technical teams across regions or countries.
- A passion for coaching talent, building high-performance cultures, and creating scalable go-to-market practices.
- Deep domain expertise in cybersecurity, data protection, infrastructure software, or cloud-native technologies.
- An understanding of regional compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, Essential Eight, APRA, and the Australian Privacy Act.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience working closely with Sales teams to close complex enterprise deals.
- The ability to communicate confidently with technical and executive stakeholders, translating complex solutions into business value.
