Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Sales Engineer to support and grow our channel partner ecosystem for Commvault solutions. This role will be responsible for enabling partners, driving technical pre-sales engagements, and positioning Commvault’s data protection, cyber resilience, and SaaS offerings across partner-led opportunities.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to influence, enable, and collaborate with partners to drive successful outcomes in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Partner Enablement & Engagement
  • Act as the primary technical advisor for channel partners on Commvault solutions
  • Conduct regular enablement sessions, workshops, and technical trainings for partner teams
  • Support partners in building capability across data protection, cyber recovery, and SaaS offerings
  • Drive partner certification and readiness programs
  1. Pre-Sales & Solution Design
  • Work closely with partners and internal sales teams to qualify opportunities
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer requirements
  • Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions using Commvault portfolio
  • Support RFP/RFI responses, solution architecture, and bill of materials
  1. Deal Support & Technical Closure
  • Deliver impactful product demonstrations, POCs, and technical presentations
  • Address customer objections and articulate clear value propositions
  • Support partners in competitive positioning and deal strategy
  • Ensure technical win in partner-led opportunities
  1. Ecosystem Collaboration
  • Collaborate with sales, product, and delivery teams to ensure alignment
  • Work with partner account managers to drive pipeline growth
  • Provide feedback to product teams based on partner and customer insights
  1. Market & Competitive Awareness
  • Stay updated on industry trends in data protection, cyber resilience, and cloud/SaaS
  • Understand competitive landscape and articulate differentiation effectively
  • Help partners position Commvault against key competitors

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6–12 years of experience in pre-sales / solution engineering roles
  • Strong experience working with channel partners / MSPs / system integrators
  • Hands-on knowledge of:
    • Data protection and backup solutions
    • Disaster recovery and cyber resilience
    • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with Commvault (preferred) or similar platforms (e.g., Veeam, Veritas, Rubrik)
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments (VMware, databases, storage, etc.)

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value
  • Strong stakeholder management (partners, customers, internal teams)
  • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, partner-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications in Commvault or cloud platforms
  • Experience in SaaS-based data protection solutions
  • Exposure to large enterprise or mid-market accounts

Success Metrics

  • Partner enablement and certification progress
  • Technical win rate in partner-led deals
  • Contribution to pipeline and revenue growth
  • Quality and effectiveness of solution design and proposals
