Project Superintendent – Electrical

COMPA Industries is searching for qualified candidates for an onsite Project Superintendent – Electrical position in Aiken, SC.

Pay: $80–$90/hr
Location: Aiken, SC / Savannah River Site (Onsite)
Citizenship: US Citizenship Required

  • Candidates must have substantial electrical construction experience and in-depth knowledge of construction, safety, and planning.
  • Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering technical discipline and 8–10 years of practical electrical experience in construction or related areas; or
    Associate’s degree in an engineering technical discipline and 10–12 years of practical electrical experience; or
    High school diploma and 12–16 years of practical electrical experience.
  • Applicants without experience supporting electrical system installation/modification in accordance with national codes and standards, including NFPA and NEC, or unable to perform field walkdowns and support construction planning activities, will not be considered.

Impact

  • As a Project Superintendent – Electrical, you will play a critical role in supporting electrical construction and maintenance work at the Savannah River Site. Your work will directly contribute to safe field execution, effective project delivery, outage coordination, quality performance, and customer satisfaction across multiple capital projects.
  • This role supports planning, scheduling, cost, safety, quality, and technical field support for electrical installation activities in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist Field Managers in directing the construction of multiple capital projects through successful completion and DOE satisfaction.
  • Serve as the electrical specialist for project teams and design review boards from project inception through closeout.
  • Support high-quality, economical, timely, and practical design and construction outcomes.
  • Coordinate construction outage schedules, cost controls, priorities, and planning with project management and plant schedulers.
  • Resolve quality control and quality assurance issues and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate with design engineering on design output schedules and provide input to resolve design changes and improve constructability.
  • Promote safe work practices and increased productivity to maximize resources and help eliminate injuries.
  • Foster a team-oriented approach when interfacing with operations, DOE, other departments, and other divisions.
  • Attend scheduled and unscheduled meetings, provide project status reports, and identify, address, and resolve project issues.
  • Review and approve job plans, permits, material requisitions, capital expenditure documents, schedules, schedule changes, and related project documentation.
  • Manage assigned personnel supporting capital projects and maintenance orders, including development, training, evaluations, career progression, and performance issues.
  • Identify engineering and material constraints affecting critical jobs and verify that proper tools and resources are available to clear constraints.
  • Perform field walkdowns to document as-installed conditions and inspect equipment condition.
  • Prepare and revise construction plans, develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor budget expenditures, and review quality of work performed.

Electrical Superintendent Functions

  • Provide technical field leadership for electrical construction and maintenance installation activities.
  • Evaluate technical design data and develop effective construction techniques and strategies.
  • Support implementation of electrical systems designed and constructed in accordance with national codes and standards, including NFPA, NEC, and other applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate with design engineering, quality assurance, quality control, safety, operations, construction personnel, plant schedulers, project management, and DOE stakeholders.
  • Monitor field progress, quality, cost, schedule, work planning, and execution readiness.
  • Support constructability reviews, outage planning, work package readiness, and field issue resolution.
  • Ensure construction work is planned and executed safely, accurately, practically, and economically.
  • Maintain awareness of environmental regulations, pertinent industry developments, and Savannah River Site procedures through required training and development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering technical discipline and 8–10 years of practical electrical experience in construction or related areas; or Associate’s degree in an engineering technical discipline and 10–12 years of practical electrical experience; or High school diploma and 12–16 years of practical electrical experience.
  • Substantial cumulative experience, in excess of eight years, and in-depth knowledge of construction, safety, and planning.
  • Experience with electrical system installation/modification designed and constructed in accordance with national codes and standards, including NFPA and NEC.
  • Ability to evaluate technical design data and develop construction techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplined staff in a proactive, value-added manner.
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns to document as-installed conditions and inspect equipment condition.
  • Knowledge of nuclear facility design, including application of safety class and safety significant codes and standards.
  • Ability to prepare and revise construction plans, develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor budget expenditures, and review quality of work performed.
  • Strong communication, coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills

  • Active or recent DOE clearance, L or Q, within the past two years.
  • Prior electrical construction, maintenance, or outage coordination experience in a nuclear, DOE, industrial, or highly regulated environment.
  • Previous Savannah River Site experience.
  • Working knowledge of Savannah River Site procedures, work control, construction execution, safety expectations, and field coordination processes.
  • Experience coordinating with project management, plant schedulers, operations, quality, safety, design engineering, construction personnel, and DOE stakeholders.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering technical discipline and 8–10 years of practical electrical experience in construction or related areas; or
  • Associate’s degree in an engineering technical discipline and 10–12 years of practical electrical experience; or
  • High school diploma and 12–16 years of practical electrical experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of substantial construction, safety, planning, and electrical field execution experience is required.

Additional Details

  • Work Location: Onsite at Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina
  • Pay Range: $80–$90 per hour
  • Schedule: A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s, 4/10s, and 9/80s. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime may be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be used at the discretion of the Manager.
  • Security: DOE “Q” clearance required. Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE / NNSA.
