About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for an Operations Specialist 1 to provide operational support for a new and growing infrastructure project portfolio. The group this role supports runs warehouse operations for incoming equipment and manages several capital-funded line item projects, including entry control facilities, change rooms, and facility refurbishments, rebuilds, and new builds.
You will help keep documentation consistent and follow-through timely so technical staff and management can stay focused on their project work. The building houses roughly 120 people and sees steady daily walk-up traffic, and this role is a main point of support for both.
This is an entry-level position with room for growth. You will work within established processes under the direction of a supervisor, team lead, or manager, and help resolve moderately complex problems as they come up.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day operational support so required activities and deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with Laboratory policies.
• Support procurement activities and assist with budget and cost tracking.
• Coordinate resource scheduling and track tasks and action items through to completion.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Serve as a point of contact for daily walk-up customers and handle formal correspondence with subcontractor technical representatives.
• Coordinate among project personnel, management, customers, and supporting LANL organizations.
• Assist with procedure revisions and identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Support issues tracking and follow corrective actions through to closure.
Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. No college degree is required. This is an entry-level role, and no specific software certifications are needed; Laboratory business systems such as Oracle are learned on the job.
Top Skills & Requirements
• Documentation and administrative support, including maintaining accurate records and supporting procurement and budget tracking.
• Ability to identify process and procedure improvements.
• Communication and customer service: working effectively with team members, management, customers, and other LANL organizations.
• Handling formal correspondence with subcontractor technical representatives and daily walk-up traffic.
• Organizational and operational coordination: managing priorities, coordinating schedules, and tracking tasks to completion.
• An adaptable approach and strong verbal and written communication in a high-volume, multi-subcontractor environment.

• Candidates who live in or near Los Alamos, NM.
• Exposure to Oracle or a similar business system (training is provided).
