Patient Account Representative
Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.
About This Role
We are seeking a Patient Account Representative to manage behavioral health claims edits, ensure clean claims submission, review and resolve clearinghouse rejections, and resolve claim denials and other issues associated with unpaid claims. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, has a proven track record in accuracy, utilizes effective communication skills, consistently meets or exceeds productivity standards, targets, error ratios, and reporting requirements as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor.

What You'll Do:
- Demonstrate knowledge of pater requirements, UB04, CMS1500, and 837 standards.
- Perform daily, systemic reviews of work lists to ensure all accounts to be worked are completed.
- Resolve claim edits via claim edit work queues, utilizing adjunct software systems and other tools proficiently.
- Process correction of claim clearinghouse rejections and resubmission of rejected claims.
- Review third party receivables to ensure clams have been received and are in process with the appropriate payers.
- Submit reconsideration and appeal requests to third party payers for denied claims.
- Compliant follow-up correspondence with third party payers for denied claims.
- Compliant follow up correspondence with third party payers regarding outstanding accounts receivables.
- Root cause analysis to reduce/prevent future non-payments.
- Enter appropriate account notes in EMR to clarify actions taken to reconcile claims.
- Assist Revenue Cycle Supervisor with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Utilize government, commercial and regulatory guidelines for collection of outstanding accounts.
- Practice HIPAA privacy standards and ensure compliance with patient health information privacy practices
Who You Are:
- Have a High School Diploma and 2 years of experience or bachelors degree with 1 year related work experience.
- Have working knowledge of physician and facility billing and follow-up including understanding of insurance rules and regulations
- Have excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression.
- Have basic knowledge of medical terminology, billing and insurance practices.
- Have extensive experience and knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Have the ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
- Have the ability to learn and adapt quickly and meet continuous timelines.
- Are detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed.
- Have flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work needs.

This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. Compensation
$45,000 - $50,000 USD
