Where you will work:

This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% and is based out of the MN-Lakeville, MN-Mankato, WI-Sun Prairie, or WI-Onalaska office location(s).

The contributions you will make:

This position leads the transformation and continued evolution of Compeer’s software engineering team, creating the capability to drive innovation through emerging technologies and maturing product development capabilities. Partners with leaders across Compeer to understand technology needs and collaboratively develop technology strategy, including transitioning to cloud-based development. Provides guidance and vision to agile product teams on technologies, tools and techniques that contribute to solutions that are delivered timely, are performant, high quality, highly usable, secure and maintainable.

A typical day: 

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Champions the brand; serves as a role-model for the vision, mission and values of the organization. Supports Compeer’s strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and executes a transformation strategy and roadmap to evolve Compeer’s software engineering teams, developing the capabilities needed to drive innovation through emerging technologies and creating a digital-capable organization
  • Defines and shapes an engineering culture and mindset across the team; creates a high-trust environment where best practices such as “blameless retros” are highly-effective.
  • Leads the team to develop and mature Cloud-based software engineering and Product Development capabilities, including but not limited to CI/CD, IaC, Microservices Architectures, Containerization, Serverless Computing, Automated Testing, API management and environment consistency
  • Develops and matures innovation, experimentation and rapid-development capabilities within the development team and in partnership with Compeer businesses and functions
  • Partners across the BT Team including with DevOps, Enterprise Architecture and Security & Risk Management to align on strategy and accelerate development and deployment of digital products
  • Drives continuous improvement across software engineering capabilities by keeping abreast of industry best practices and identifying and executing improvement initiatives that enhance the team capabilities and value delivery.

Team Leadership

  • Creates and promotes a positive culture and work environment that leverages the talents and abilities of team members in achieving the goals of the Development and Delivery team.
  • Creates and promotes a values & trust-based culture of high-performance and execution across the Technology Development & Delivery team.
  • Selects, develops, and engages great talent to create and maintain a high-performing team; ensure a talent-pipeline to meet the future needs of the team.

Development & Delivery Process Management

  • Manages processes for the delivery of technical solutions (building, testing, supporting and enforcing processes).
  • Establishes business segment-wide technical standards, policies and procedures around solution development to ensure a consistent approach and controls are maintained throughout the application development process.

The skills and experience we prefer you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Expert-level technology experience, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Prior leadership and management experience preferred.
  • Exceptional people leadership and talent development skills including the ability to select, evaluate, engage, motivate, mentor, train, delegate, reward and lead team members.
  • High learning agility with demonstrated ability to apply past experiences and learnings successfully in new situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage values-based leadership to shape and influence culture; able to lead in a hybrid work environment.
  • Proven experience leading technology transformation and change initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop high-impact technology strategy.
  • High degree of curiosity across leadership and technology disciplines.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Expert-level knowledge of product development and agile solution delivery principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
  • Demonstrated success in implementation of large, complex programs.

 

How we will take care of you:

Our job titles may span more than one career level (associate, senior, principal, etc.). The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.
