Where you will work:

This position offers a hybrid work option (up to 50% remote) and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois.

The contributions you will make: 

This position is responsible for developing and growing new business through counseling and servicing of existing clients while pursuing new loan sales development opportunities with prospective clients. Builds strong client relationships and provides innovative and workable alternatives to solve problems that client face in ongoing agricultural operations. Provides mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members.

A typical day: 

  • Originates, structures and makes credit recommendation on medium size commercial account transactions.
  • Seeks new loan business by developing relationships with existing clients, searching for new clients and meeting with prospective clients to gain their business.
  • Maintains prospect files and establishes ongoing prospecting plans and activities.
  • Assists leadership in developing and delivering Animal Ag business plan objectives and marketing programs that enable the organization to meet business goals.
  • Participates in the development of new products/services and/or the development of product promotion campaigns in collaboration with the Compeer Marketing team, as needed.
  • Represents the organization for select moderately complex commercial accounts including some multi-lender relationships.
  • Continually develops solid relationships by bringing valued knowledge and experience to the client to help them manage their agricultural operations more effectively and efficiently.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to Client Service Teams, within a team relationship model, in order to ensure a fully integrated team approach to sales and service.
  • Processes new loan applications, renewal of existing operations for commercial real estate loans.
  • Discusses and collects required financial documentation with the client and quality of financials reported.
  • Uses Compeer systems (Salesforce, SharePoint, etc.) and workflows to accurately enter, review and correct data that has been entered into the system for each loan file from application to closing.
  • Remains up to date on current developments and trends in the marketplace, including competitive products, services, and technology.
  • Develops and maintains assigned industry knowledge and expertise to be shared as needed and to facilitate more sound credit decisions.
  • Makes frequent formal presentations to various local and regional agricultural groups.

The skills and experience we prefer you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Ag Sales, Finance or a related agricultural field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert-level experience in sales, credit or related industry experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry.
  • Advance knowledge of “value added” business and farming concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of loan products and services, as well as credit operations.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, client service and team skills.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of farm production methods, farm products, and farm business management/finance.
  • Represents the organization in community/public situations where excellent public speaking, client service skills, and industry knowledge is needed.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

Base Pay

$115,600 - $175,600 USD
