This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. 

The contributions you will make: 

This position is responsible for leading Compeer's cloud transformation journey by developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that aligns with business goals and ensures scalable, secure, and efficient cloud operations. The incumbent leads the design and implementation of cloud migration strategies, ensuring smooth transitions from on-premise or legacy systems to modern cloud environments. Establishes strong governance frameworks, optimizing cloud resources for performance and cost-efficiency, and operationalizing cloud solutions to enable long-term sustainability and agility. Guides the Cloud team by establishing clear goals and directions that align with organizational priorities, supporting the team in successfully achieving objectives.

A typical day: 

Cloud Strategy and Capability

  • Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with business goals and technology vision.
  • Assesses current cloud infrastructure, identify gaps, and builds a scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud ecosystem.
  • Establishes cloud architecture principles, standards, and frameworks that support operational efficiency and business innovation.
  • Creates processes, tools, and resources necessary to scale the cloud function, integrating cloud platforms, services, and solutions.
  • Works with the finance and technology teams to evaluate and select cloud solutions that optimize cost and performance.
  • Ensures compliance with industry regulations, security policies, and legal requirements.
  • Partners in managing the vendor relationships to negotiate cost-effective contracts and ensure high-quality service delivery.

Migration and Implementation Partnership

  • Oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of cloud migration.
  • Ensures seamless transition of applications, data, and infrastructure to the cloud.
  • Manages timelines, risks, and cross-functional coordination during implementation.
  • Evaluates and hires a strategic partner to assist with the Cloud strategy, execution and support.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, guiding BT and business teams on cloud adoption and optimization strategies.
  • Collaborates closely with finance and technology departments to align cloud strategies with business objectives and financial forecasts.
  • Provides financial oversight to cloud investments, ensuring alignment with budget and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assists in cloud cost forecasting, tracking, and reporting, ensuring that cloud resources are utilized effectively and within budget.

Governance, Optimization and Operations

  • Partners with technology and business units to identify, evaluate, and select cloud vendors and service providers.
  • Develops and manage strong, long-term relationships with key cloud vendors to ensure quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implements proactive risk mitigation strategies by ensuring all cloud operations comply with regulatory, security, and contractual requirements.
  • Regularly assesses cloud vendor performance to ensure SLAs are met and operational goals are achieved.
  • Fosters strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors to drive cloud excellence.
  • Supports recruitment efforts and leads/mentors cloud engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams in cloud best practices.
  • Establishes and implements performance metrics to track cloud adoption, usage, cost efficiency, and vendor performance.
  • Provides valuable insights to assist leadership in making informed decisions regarding cloud scaling, cost optimization, and strategic growth.

The skills and experience we prefer you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud architecture, engineering or operations.
  • Advanced experience in cloud strategy development and execution, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Advanced experience in managing large-scale cloud infrastructure and services across multiple platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Advanced experience in cloud vendor management, cost optimization, and financial planning.
  • Advanced experience in building and scaling cloud capabilities from the ground up is highly desirable.
  • Proven success in leading cloud transformation initiatives in a regulated industry, financial services preferred.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Strong background in cloud strategy development and execution, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing cloud strategies that align with business goals and technology objectives.
  • Proven ability to build and lead cloud functions, driving innovation while ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational excellence.
  • Strong background in vendor management, contract negotiation, and securing favorable cloud service agreements.
  • Showcase high-level understanding of cloud security, compliance, and regulatory standards, with the ability to ensure cloud operations meet industry’s best practices.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in managing cloud budgets, cost optimization strategies, and cloud usage forecasting.
  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships with technology, business units, and external vendors to drive cloud success.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze cloud performance data and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Knowledge of emerging cloud technologies and best practices, with a focus on leveraging cloud for business innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Experience with cloud migration, infrastructure as code (IaC), and cloud-native architectures is a plus.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with cloud management tools, cost monitoring platforms, and cloud service models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
  • Valid driver's license.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

 

Base Pay

$164,400 - $222,400 USD
