This is a paid internship; however, the intern must provide their own housing and transportation. Business related transportation and expenses will be paid by the organization. This intern will work full-time through the summer of 2027. The internship is located out of Lakeville, MN office location. If pursuing internship credit through your university, it is your responsibility to consult with your advisor and review the internship's job description to ensure it meets the minimum eligibility requirements.
The contributions you will make:
The IT Operations Intern is a temporary developmental role designed to provide practical experience supporting and improving the technology services that enable Compeer team members to work effectively. Working with guidance from experienced IT Operations professionals, this role contributes to well-defined service-management, reporting, documentation, asset-management, and process-improvement activities.
The intern will gain exposure to the full technology service experience, including end-user support, service delivery, IT asset management, service reporting, knowledge management, incident and problem management, operational readiness, and continuous improvement. The role develops technical, professional, and business capabilities while helping the team improve service quality, operational consistency, and data-driven decision-making.
A typical day:
- Support well-defined IT Operations assignments under guidance, with attention to service quality, accuracy, documentation, confidentiality, and established processes.
- Assist with gathering, validating, and organizing operational data for service reports, dashboards, ticket trends, asset records, knowledge management, and process-improvement initiatives.
- Help maintain and improve documentation, knowledge articles, runbooks, process maps, service catalogs, and operational procedures.
- Support IT asset-management and configuration-management activities, including inventory validation, lifecycle tracking, data-quality review, and follow-up coordination.
- Assist with tracking work, action items, remediation plans, project milestones, and supporting evidence for audit, risk, or service-management commitments.
- Participate in service-management activities, including incident, problem, change, and request-management processes, as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve reporting, strengthen documentation, and enhance the team-member technology experience.
- Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to support analysis, documentation, research, and routine work while validating results, protecting sensitive information, and maintaining human accountability.
- Collaborate with Service Delivery, Service Management, Infrastructure, Security, business partners, and vendors to support shared operational goals.
- Seek coaching, apply feedback, build business and technical knowledge, and demonstrate accountability for personal growth and assigned deliverables.
The skills and experience we prefer you have:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Interest in IT service management, technology operations, customer experience, data analysis, business process improvement, or enterprise technology.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to analyze data, organize information, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems, IT asset management, service management, workflow tools, or reporting platforms is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information into clear, business-friendly language.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage assigned work and deadlines.
- Demonstrated curiosity, learning agility, customer-service mindset, and willingness to ask questions and apply feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams, adapt to changing priorities, and reliably follow through on commitments.
- Commitment to protecting confidential information and following established policies, procedures, and technology standards.
How we will take care of you:
Actual hourly rate offered is dependent upon year in school, work experience, transferable skills, business needs and market demands. The hourly rate range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Base Pay
$20 - $21 USD
