Job Summary
Compliance Management International (CMI) is seeking a Safety Specialist to support a press replacement project at a manufacturing facility in Gainesville, GA. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices while working closely with project managers, engineers, and third-party construction managers. The project is expected to last 4-5 months, with demanding work schedules, including 7-day workweeks and 10-12 hour shifts.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, construction and general industry experience, and expertise in hazardous energy control, electrical work, hot work, machine guarding, fall protection, cranes/rigging, and other safety-critical areas.
Responsibilities
- Oversee safety compliance and enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
- Conduct hazard assessments and implement corrective actions.
- Support pre-task planning, hazardous work permitting, and site safety documentation.
- Ensure proper use of fall protection, machine guarding, and electrical safety measures.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and third-party construction management.
- Conduct daily safety reports and incident documentation.
- Train and guide workers on safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and mitigate language barriers and cultural safety gaps with international contractors.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction and general industry safety.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Italian highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of hazardous energy control, electrical safety, hot work, fall protection, and crane/rigging safety.
- Excellent communication and soft skills to manage international contractors.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-demand project schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing and walking on uneven terrain.
- Capability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and crawl as necessary.
- Capability to lift up to 30 pounds as part of job duties.
Education and Certifications
- Degree in a safety-related field highly preferred.
- BCSP advanced credentials (CSP, ASP, CHST, etc.).
- OSHA 30 Construction (within the last 5 years).
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
Additional Details
- Work Schedule: 7 days per week, 10-12 hour shifts.
- Position will start in the May 2025 time frame
- Background check and drug screening may be required.
- Local candidates preferred, but non-local candidates may be considered
