Construction Safety Specialist (OCIP Project)
Danville, PA
Project Type: Hospital Construction – OCIP
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to support a large hospital construction project under an OCIP program. This role will focus on overseeing safety compliance for a major mechanical contractor, with an emphasis on pipefitting operations.
Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce site-specific safety programs in alignment with OSHA and OCIP requirements
- Conduct daily site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Monitor mechanical and pipefitting activities to ensure safe work practices
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientations
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and ensure proper documentation/reporting
- Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and OCIP administrators
- Maintain safety records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Qualifications
- 8–10 years of construction safety experience (hospital or large-scale projects preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and OCIP programs
- Experience overseeing mechanical contractors, especially pipefitting operations
- Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and management
- Local candidate preferred
Certifications & Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or CHST (required if no degree)
- OSHA 500 Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification (current)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, climb, and navigate active construction sites
- Capable of standing for extended periods and accessing elevated or confined areas
- Ability to wear required PPE at all times
- Lift up to 25–30 lbs as needed
