Overview
CompTech is seeking a dynamic, strategic professional in capture management and business development to join its executive team as a key independent contributor. This high-impact role requires a principled, growth-oriented mindset, strong business and technical acumen, strategic initiative, and the ability to cultivate trusted relationships across U.S. defense agencies, military branches, and industry partners. As part of a collaborative leadership team, the successful candidate will actively participate in executive meetings and events to drive alignment, support collective decision-making, and contribute to both individual and cross-functional wins in the GovCon space. This role reports directly to the CEO & President.
Scope of Work
- Market Intelligence & Capture Strategy: Conduct in-depth analysis to identify high-value DoD opportunities and lead the development of targeted, probability-weighted capture strategies aligned with corporate growth objectives. Also important, will be influencing customer requirements, converting implicit needs into clear solution features, strengthening competitive differentiation, and crafting persuasive value propositions.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Proposal Execution: Build and influence key relationships across the defense ecosystem to support strategic pursuits. Oversee the creation of compliant, technically strong proposals that enhance competitiveness under FAR and DFARS guidelines.
- Operational Insight & Performance Management: Lead data-driven contract operations by monitoring KPIs, delivering real-time insights, and informing executive decisions. Support continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and enhancing capture effectiveness.
- Regulatory Awareness & Strategic Collaboration: Stay ahead of acquisition policy and market trends affecting federal defense. Foster a collaborative team environment through active participation in team meetings and knowledge sharing.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years in business development and capture roles focused on the DoD market, supported by a bachelor’s degree and well-established industry and customer relationships.
- Willingness to travel frequently as needed.
- Strong proficiency with online tools used by the Government for solicitations.
- US citizenship is required for this role.
- Active or eligible for DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- US military experience is preferred.
- Commitment to a full-time 40-hour work week, with flexibility to provide additional hours when the workload dictates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading large-scale federal defense and intelligence community capture efforts, both as a prime contractor and subcontractor.
- Demonstrated skills in all areas of business development including opportunity qualification, capture strategy, customer visits and demonstrations, customer relationship development, relationship development with competitors, written submissions (market surveys, RFI responses, support to proposals), team leadership, etc.
- Experience presenting to senior executives, peers, and customers.
- Ability to empower and engage people and instill drive and passion into the organization.
- Clear, persuasive communicator, both in presentations and written content.
- Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously and adjusting to changing priorities.
Salary range: $140k + incentive plan and a robust benefits package.
