JOB DESCRIPTION
The Behavioral Threat Assessment Investigator plays a pivotal role in the client's Global Threat Assessment Program by swiftly triaging and evaluating inbound reports to identify potential life-safety risks. In addition to conducting platform-based investigations and maintaining thorough documentation, this professional exercises sound decision-making to determine the most appropriate course of action for each situation. The role encompasses managing and resolving lower-level cases from intake through closure while discerning when to escalate higher-risk matters to a Threat Assessment Manager for comprehensive review, thereby ensuring timely, effective, and proportionate responses that safeguard the company community.
The scope of the role pertains to threats to life safety impacting the company, employees, and partner community as directed by the client. Behavioral Threat Assessment Investigators perform these tasks via client-supplied equipment, network access, and information platforms, and through:
- Consistent application of program policies, playbooks, and escalation criteria
- Efficient, accurate case assessment and documentation
- Collaboration with Threat Assessment Managers and cross-functional partners to support time-sensitive workflows
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and assess inbound reports/cases for potential threat indicators, urgency, and required next steps.
- Apply defined risk indicators and escalation criteria to determine when cases should be elevated to a Threat Assessment Manager, while exercising sound judgment to make decisions and independently manage lower-level cases through appropriate resolution.
- Create and maintain clear, complete case records, including summaries, timelines, and supporting evidence.
- Conduct platform-based investigations using internal tools and approved open-source methods to validate identity, context, and reported behavior.
- Gather and organize relevant information (e.g., prior history, related reports, behavioral patterns) to support downstream investigation.
- Identify and flag gaps, inconsistencies, or risk factors requiring senior review.
- Support monitoring of active cases by tracking updates, documenting new information, and escalating changes in risk level.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., customer support, operations, security partners) to support case routing and timely action.
- Communicate case findings in a way that is clear, concise, and aligned to the process, escalating when appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying workflow friction, recommending updates to intake forms/playbooks, and supporting documentation hygiene.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience in investigations, trust & safety, security operations, intelligence support, case triage, or related fields.
- Experience reviewing and documenting cases in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
- Familiarity with open-source research techniques and online investigative methods (within approved guidelines).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear case summaries.
- Strong judgment and comfort working within structured escalation frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Professionally proficient in Google Workspace applications and macOS, and experienced in leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity.
- This is a full-time position. A typical week’s schedule consists of four 10-hour days, often requiring one shift on a weekend day as job duties demand.
- This position requires availability during West Coast business hours.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Must be able to legally work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in platform investigations (e.g., Trust & Safety, fraud, abuse response, insider risk support, or similar).
- Experience supporting a threat assessment, protective intelligence, or security operations program (in a support/associate capacity).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (years of experience may be substituted).
- Language skills and/or international exposure.
- Experience with basic data review/metrics (e.g., tracking volumes, outcomes, and trends).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Country-specific benefits will be discussed during the interview process
Canada Pay Range
$125,000 - $125,000 CAD
