
HVAC Install Manager
Position Summary
The HVAC Install Manager leads daily installation operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, efficient workflows, and exceptional customer experiences. This role manages install teams, enforces safety and quality standards, and ensures projects are completed on time, on budget, and in compliance with all codes. As the department leader, the Install Manager drives craftsmanship, productivity, and customer satisfaction while supporting company growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and inspire a team of HVAC technicians to achieve service excellence.
- Provide ongoing technical training, coaching, and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and deliver constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive, safety-focused team culture centered on quality workmanship and accountability.
- Ensure proper staffing, onboarding, and crew readiness for daily installations.
- Oversee daily install scheduling, crew assignments, and job execution.
- Ensure all installations are completed efficiently, on schedule, and according to scope.
- Coordinate with sales, service, and warehouse teams to ensure accurate job readiness and material availability.
- Review job estimates, load calculations, system designs, and installation plans for accuracy and feasibility.
- Monitor labor hours, job costs, and productivity to maximize profitability.
- Track and report departmental performance metrics, including completion rates, callbacks, and margins.
- Manage the install department budget, tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Ensure all HVAC installations meet or exceed company standards, manufacturer specifications, and local/state codes.
- Perform job site inspections and post-install quality checks.
- Minimize callbacks, warranty issues, and rework through proactive quality management.
- Resolve technical challenges and field issues quickly and effectively.
- Maintain thorough documentation for installations, permits, and inspections.
- Serve as the escalation point for installation-related customer concerns.
- Ensure clear communication with homeowners before, during, and after installation.
- Conduct post-install follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and system performance.
- Support handoffs to the service department for ongoing maintenance and support.
- Enforce OSHA, company, and jobsite safety standards at all times.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all install crews.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HVAC installation experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in HVAC or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential HVAC installations, including ductwork, system design, and equipment setup.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop install teams.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and installation specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with HVAC software and business tools (e.g., ServiceTitan, Microsoft Office).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments, including attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and varied weather conditions.
- Required HVAC certifications (EPA Certification required; NATE Installation Certification preferred).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Work Environment
Works in field environments across residential job sites, climbing ladders and navigating uneven surfaces. Regularly works in confined spaces and moves materials up to 50 pounds. Operates hand and power tools and vehicles. Must be able to see, hear, and exchange accurate information with customers and team members. Regular exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and dust.
