Job Title: Director, Quality Assurance

Location: Bangalore/ Ahmedabad

Reports to: Global Head, Quality Engineering.

Director QA Engineering is responsible for leading the overall quality assurance strategy, building and maintaining a high-performing team, and ensuring that the organization’s software meets the highest quality standards. The role requires a combination of leadership, technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills to effectively drive quality at all stages of the software development lifecycle.

Technical skills

Quality Assurance Methodologies: Deep understanding of various QA methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, etc., preferably in an enterprise product development environment

Testing Techniques: Proficiency in functional, non-functional, performance, security and other testing types.

Testing Tools: Knowledge of various testing tools.

Test Automation : Extensive experience and knowledge in driving test automation and must have worked in a large volume of tests and test orchestration.

SDLC: Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and its phases.

Defect Tracking: Familiarity with defect tracking process and tools.

 

Leadership and management skills

Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate QA teams.

Communication Skills: Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels.

Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex quality issues.

Decision-Making: Making informed decisions based on available data.

Negotiation: Ability to negotiate with stakeholders and teams.

Conflict Resolution: Skills to handle disagreements and foster a collaborative environment.

Resource Management: Skills to manage budgets, timelines and resource allocation effectively.

 

Strategic thinking skills

Quality Planning: Developing comprehensive quality plans aligned with business objectives.

Risk Assessment: Identifying and mitigating potential risks to quality.

Metrics Analysis: Analysing quality metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement: Driving a culture of continuous improvement in quality processes.

Innovation: Exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance quality.

 

Interpersonal skills

Collaboration: Working effectively with cross-functional teams.

Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

Mentorship: Guiding and developing the QA team.

Leadership and Team Management: Recruit, train and develop QA personnel. Instill a positive team culture and encourage professional growth. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.

Strategic Planning: Align QA objectives with business goals. Develop long-term quality assurance plans. Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current QA practices. Implement best practices for testing and quality assurance. Develop and refine testing processes and standards.

Quality Metrics and Reporting: Define key quality performance indicators (KPIs) . Regularly analyze and report on quality metrics to stakeholders. Use data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with development, product management and operations teams. Communicate quality goals and status to senior management. Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.

Risk Management: Assess potential risks associated with product quality and releases. Develop risk mitigation strategies. Ensure thorough testing to minimize the risk of defects.

Resource Management: Optimize resource utilization and measurements. Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands. Ensure the right tools and technologies are in place for testing.

Compliance and Standards: Implement quality assurance standards and processes. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Conduct audits and assessments to maintain compliance.
