Job Title: Senior Manager, DevOps
Department: Engineering Operations (R&D)
Locations: Bulgaria – Sofia
Reports to: VP, Cloud Infrastructure & Operations
A quick snapshot…
Conga is looking for a Senior Manager, DevOps to join our Engineering Operations organization. In this role, you will lead and grow a team of DevOps and platform engineers responsible for the reliability, scalability, and security of Conga’s cloud infrastructure. You will own the CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes (EKS) platform, infrastructure-as-code practices, and observability stack that power Conga’s SaaS products.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will partner closely with software engineering, security, SRE, and product teams to drive infrastructure modernization—including cloud migration, container orchestration, and database platform optimization—while instilling strong change management discipline and operational excellence across the organization.
Why it’s a big deal…
Conga’s customers—including more than half of the Fortune 100—depend on our platform for mission-critical revenue lifecycle operations. The Senior Manager, DevOps is directly accountable for the infrastructure foundation that keeps those customers running. You will set the engineering standards, incident response practices, and automation strategies that determine our platform’s availability, performance, and security posture. This role has outsized impact on Conga’s ability to ship reliably and scale confidently.
Here’s the person we’re looking for…
Related experience: 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles within a SaaS environment, with 3+ years managing and developing engineering teams. Bonus points if you’ve operated at scale in a multi-product B2B SaaS company.
- Cloud & Container Expertise: You bring deep, production-hardened experience with AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, IAM) and Kubernetes. You understand networking, storage, compute optimization, and cost management at scale. You’ve designed and operated EKS clusters serving real production traffic and know how to right-size workloads across instance families.
- CI/CD & Automation Champion: You’ve built and maintained enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines and believe that if it isn’t automated, it isn’t done. You have strong opinions on deployment strategies (blue-green, canary, rolling) and enforce infrastructure-as-code discipline using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Change Management & Incident Discipline: You understand that change is the primary driver of incidents. You enforce rigorous change management processes—defined approval gates, scheduled release windows, and mandatory post-incident reviews. You build a culture where every outage is a learning opportunity, not a blame exercise.
- Observability & Reliability: You’ve implemented comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging strategies. You define and track SLOs/SLIs, build dashboards that surface signal (not noise), and ensure on-call rotations are sustainable and well-documented.
- Security-Minded Operator: You treat security as a first-class infrastructure concern. You’re comfortable with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI, HIPAA), understand network segmentation, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation workflows, and partner effectively with security teams.
- Proven Leadership & Coaching: You have a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong infrastructure engineers. You set clear expectations, deliver direct and actionable feedback, and create an environment where your team does their best work. You know how to manage both onshore and offshore engineering talent.
- Owner Mentality: This is your infrastructure and you treat it that way. You own escalations, drive root-cause remediation (not symptomatic fixes), and build executive-level visibility into platform health and risk.
What you’ll be doing…
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps and platform engineers across multiple geographies.
- Own the reliability, scalability, and security of Conga’s AWS cloud infrastructure, including EKS clusters, EC2 fleets, database platforms (TiDB, SQL Server, ElastiCache), and supporting services.
- Drive CI/CD pipeline strategy and execution, ensuring fast, safe, and repeatable deployments across all product lines.
- Define and enforce change management standards: approval workflows, release windows, rollback procedures, and post-change validation.
- Build and maintain the observability stack—monitoring, alerting, logging, and dashboards—to provide actionable insight into platform health.
- Establish and track SLOs/SLIs; lead incident response, blameless post-mortems, and root-cause remediation.
- Partner with Security to harden infrastructure, maintain compliance posture, and integrate security tooling into the DevOps workflow.
- Drive infrastructure cost optimization through reserved capacity planning, right-sizing, and resource lifecycle management.
- Own infrastructure-as-code practices and ensure all environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and auditable.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Product, and Architecture teams to support application modernization efforts, including legacy migration (JBoss, Oracle) to cloud-native architectures.
- Design and deliver engineering education programs focused on operational excellence and incident reduction.
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement for infrastructure and DevOps tooling.
Here’s what will give you an edge…
- Experience operating TiDB or other distributed NewSQL databases on Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with EBS volume management, S3 backup strategies (including Object Lock), and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with cloud security posture management tools (e.g., Upwind, Wiz, Prisma Cloud) in AWS/K8s environments.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, GitHub Copilot administration, or MCP server enablement for engineering teams.
- Track record of building DevOps team standards handbooks covering change management, CI/CD, monitoring, on-call, and incident management.
- Experience with Azure in addition to AWS, particularly around cost modeling and MACC/EDP negotiations.
- Background in migrating legacy application servers (JBoss/WildFly) to containerized deployments.
Tools and systems experience…
- Cloud: AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, IAM, Cost Explorer); Azure experience a plus.
- Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, Docker.
- IaC & Automation: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Pulumi.
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar.
- Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK/OpenSearch, or equivalent.
- Databases: Operational familiarity with TiDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar.
- Security & Compliance: SIEM integration, vulnerability scanning, secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager).
- Collaboration: Jira, Confluence, Slack, PagerDuty.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
Travel Requirement: Limited travel to other company offices upon request.
