About the Job
The role of the District Operations Manager is to oversee and support the daily operations of our cannabis retail locations. This role ensures compliance with state and local cannabis regulations, supports and monitors labor scheduling for optimal sales performance, creates action plans for inventory operations to increase accuracy, and performs internal audits of processes and systems for adherence of guidelines and SOPs. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented and compliance focused leader who can quickly build trust within store management and teams and recommend and implement new and existing processes across all retail stores.
Note: This role is remote, with regular (weekly) travel to retail locations.
What You Will Do
Operational Oversight & SOP Adherence:
- Complete weekly visits to monitor and assess daily operations of each store location for SOP adherence.
- In partnership with the Compliance team, ensure stores are compliant with all cannabis regulations (e.g., METRC, DCC, CDTFA and local ordinances).
- Implement and train store teams to SOP standards to ensure consistent execution across locations.
- Optimize inventory management and product flow, minimizing shrinkage and ensuring consistent salesfloor replenishment and product availability.
- Perform a check in with onsite security to ensure adherence to established guidelines and SOPs. Partner closely with Compliance as needed to address and resolve any concerns.
- Establish, train, and monitor best practices in daily inventory management.
- Build strong working relationships to support the store leadership and inventory teams. Create, manage and follow up with action plans as required to address any store operation issues.
- Establish priorities, focus areas and provide direction to all retail teams relative to the store’s areas of opportunities.
- Oversees product inventory for proper location management and organization for efficient product reordering.
- Notify store staff of new procedures, policies and regulatory updates/changes.
Team Leadership:
- Direct training, implementation and execution of SOPs with store management. Check for a clear understanding of the process steps.
- In partnership with the Compliance team, conduct regular evaluations and internal audits of store systems, including mock DCC audits.
- Exemplify a culture of accountability, compliance, and team partnership.
- Conduct regular training and check-ins with inventory process improvements and compliance protocols with the store inventory teams.
- Collaborate with Store Leadership on prioritizing focuses and creating action plans to improve identified operational risks.
- Provide the store team(s) the tools necessary to ensure efficient inventory control and provide collaborative resolutions to challenges.
- Oversee store cycle counts adjustments monthly and address issues with action plans as needed.
- Directs and supports staff scheduling, ensures the customer experience is protected through proper scheduling.
- Ensure high standards of customer service across all locations.
- Monitor and respond to customer feedback and online reviews.
- Assist with execution of new customer engagement strategies and execution.
- Protects the experience for employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment
Operations and Financial Performance:
- Partner with Leadership teams to continually improve efficient scheduling of inventory staff, order fulfillment and budtender teams for proper coverage and maximizing hours used.
- Establish and maintain supplies ordering according to budget guidelines.
- Constantly seek out opportunities to decrease operational expenses.
- Assemble and analyze weekly product reports and monitor velocity of product sell through rate and aging.
- Create action plans with the store Inventory Manager to improve processes for accurate inventory shrink and results.
- Monitor and ensure store teams are managing expired products and waste appropriately.
- Contribute to operational and strategic planning and assist in setting quarterly goals.
- Partners and supports the Store Leadership team with ensuring all staff adheres to all store policies and procedures around inventory management.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Report any concerns or issues with Retail Leadership and Compliance to implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all staff are trained and up to date on legal and safety practices in accordance with state and local cannabis laws.
- Ensure all location are operating in compliance with regulatory requirements at all times; maintains the reputation of the store
- Assist with store inventory team scheduling as needed for efficient time management and planning of deliveries and inventory related tasks.

What We Are Looking For
- Must be 21+ years of age
- High school or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years supervising non-exempt employees. Previous experience in a management role with hiring/firing authority preferred.
- 3-5 years of senior leadership experience in retail, customer service, hospitality, food service, or a related field
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Must be able to work a variety of hours including mornings, nights, and weekends
- Travel requirements on a weekly and monthly basis between store locations.
- Excellent computer and mathematics skills, data analysis; experience working in Microsoft Excel required.
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task with excellent organization skills.
- Experienced relationship with internal team and external partners.
- Comfort with a fast-paced environment and changing requirements.
- Comfortable learning new technologies.
- Aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting and ability to provide well thought out recommendations.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation Description (annually): The salary range for this position in the selected city is $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
