About the Job
The Store People Manager leads the charge in building a resilient, results-driven team in a highly regulated environment. This role is for an organized people forward leader who can manage the precision of labor scheduling and compliance while simultaneously driving engagement and long-term retention. In partnership with People Operations, you will solve the daily puzzle of staffing optimization and performance management, ensuring that every team member is not just a hire, but a high-performing contributor to the store’s growth.
What You Will Do
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and shift management.
- Maintain a clean, organized and well merchandised store environment, ensuring product is neatly placed with correct signage.
- Manage employee rest periods and meal breaks according to CA Labor laws.
- Drive store revenue by setting clear hourly goals for the day and holding the team accountable to performance expectations.
- Execute company direction on promotional strategies daily to drive traffic and revenue results.
- Train and develop staff through ongoing coaching, empowerment and performance feedback.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement goals and improvement plans when necessary, under the guidance of the General Manager.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and results driven culture that promotes team engagement and supports retention.
- Lead by example on the salesfloor, actively engaging with customers and supporting the team.
- Ensure delivery of exceptional customer experiences aligned with brand standards.
- Resolve customer concerns and escalations professionally and in a timely manner, turning issues into loyalty opportunities.
- Ensure all employees are adhering to company policies and procedures in accordance with the Company Handbook.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end interview and hiring process for all store roles—from sourcing to permit management—while building a talent pipeline to support growth and reduce turnover. Provide meaningful and timely feedback on all candidates.
- Own the first 90 days of the employee experience, coordinate new-hire introductions and develop a Mentor program to ensure thorough training and a welcoming environment.
- Deliver and track training for POS, compliance, and SOPs, identifying skill gaps and working with leadership to provide ongoing coaching and support.
- Facilitate monthly touch-bases and help coordinate annual reviews to align on goals, while working with GM and HRBP on fair and consistent disciplinary actions and documentation day to day.
- Drive an inclusive, high-performance culture by reinforcing company values and spearheading recognition and retention initiatives.
- Align labor scheduling with budgets and sales trends, monitoring overtime and ACA compliance to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure 100% adherence to state and local cannabis regulations, maintaining accurate employee records and participating in annual policy audits with People Operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Upholds compliance and regulatory requirements at all times; maintains the reputation of the store
- Ensures product inventory is entered correctly and organized for proper purchasing
- Protects employees and customers by providing and safe and clean store environment
- Manager is aware of employee performance and interaction with patients
- Assigns workers to specific projects such as cleaning or restocking
- Notify staff of new procedures, policies and regulation updates/changes
- Create/oversee staff schedules, finding coverage if needed for sick time or personal time off
- Educate and train staff on all current and new products.
- Demonstrate ability to speak at a high level about the business.
What We Are Looking For
- Must be 21+ years of age
- High school or equivalent
- 1-2 years leadership experience in retail, customer service, hospitality, food service, or a related field
- Must be able to work a variety of hours including mornings, nights, and weekends
- Proven Sales Background: 2+ years of retail management experience with a documented history of hitting or exceeding sales targets.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position in the selected city is: $26.00-$32.00. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
