What you will do as our VP, Finance: 

Financial Leadership 

  • Lead financial topics and initiatives within the senior leadership team. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, growth, and efficiency within the finance team. 
  • Implement and optimize best-in-class finance operations processes, leveraging automation and AI. 
  • Contribute to company strategy by driving initiatives to grow revenue, optimize costs, and improve efficiency. 
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, COO and executive team on financial matters. 

 

Financial Planning & Reporting 

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting activities. 
  • Conduct frequent forecasting and sensitivity analysis to accurately predict cash movements, revenue, and earnings projections. 
  • Maintain and refine financial models to support strategic decision-making. 
  • Analyze financial performance and KPIs, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to the executive team. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and investors. 
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. 

 

Strategic Financial Relationships 

  • Build and maintain relationships with investors, banks, and financial institutions. 
  • Support the executive team in nurturing relationships with potential investors. 
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including financial instruments, government funding programs, venture capital, private equity, and debt financing. 
  • Manage investor relations and communications, ensuring transparency and trust. 

 

M&A Financial Planning & Due Diligence 

  • Play a pivotal role in participating and coordinating due diligence activities for M&A transactions. 
  • Build financial models, including multiple scenarios and sensitivity analyses, to facilitate data-driven decision-making. 
  • Plan and execute financial integration activities post-M&A. 
  • Conduct thorough financial assessments of potential acquisition targets. 

 

Compliance & Risk Management 

  • Review contract clauses within commercial and financial documents, making recommendations to minimize risk and align with customer requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including tax laws and financial reporting requirements. 
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard the company’s financial health. 
  • Oversee internal controls and audit processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. 

 

Technology & Innovation 

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in financial technology and implement relevant tools to enhance financial operations. 
  • Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to improve financial decision-making. 

 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team. 
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance team. 
  • Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and a commitment to excellence. 

 

What you will need to succeed:   

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • CPA or CFA certification. 
  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A, financial reporting, and fundraising, ideally in a scale-up environment. 
  • Experience working with international entities, including payroll, taxation, and transfer pricing. 
  • Expertise in M&A financial modeling, due diligence, and integration. 
  • Experience in payments and fintech services is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English; functional French is an asset. 
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills. 
  • High proficiency in financial software and ERP systems. 

Montreal pay range

$160,000 - $220,000 CAD
