Sales Engineer - BMS

General Summary:

The Sales Engineer is responsible for providing world-class product demonstrations to prospective ConnectWise partners. The Sales Engineer, through tenure and/or skill, has a proven ability to demonstrate our product suite’s benefit to customers and aid in the closing of the technical sale. As the key technical resource and product advisor to sales executives and prospects, the Sales Engineer plays an integral part in actively driving the technological evaluation stage of the sales process. Working with the Sales team, the Sales Engineer drives revenue by consulting with prospective customers and recommending solutions to gain customer acceptance of the technical and business benefits of our Suite of software. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Sales Engineer is responsible for representing technical aspects of our suite of products and proposing how these benefit prospective customers
  • Provides exemplary technical expertise and independent creative discretion in producing technical and product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Executes proof of concepts with prospects at both a technical and business level to show the value it could add to their operations. Exercises discretion and judgment regarding product specifications required to address customer requirements, assess customers’ needs, and recommend solutions that optimize value.
  • Proactively scope technical solutions required to align product designs to customers’ business by interpreting customer requirements, particularly for larger and more complicated customer needs. Apply requirements in the form of standard or custom proof of concepts and trials to prospects to provide an effective means for them to evaluate our products.
  • Works independently or as part of a sales team with customers to position technology to both business and technical users in a consultative manner and through product capability assessments.
  • Prepare, research and provide input into technical RFPs/RFQs.
  • The Sales Engineer uses advanced knowledge to articulate to Product Management, Development, Consulting and other department product enhancements, design requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Act as a key point of contact for all Revenue staff to provide product knowledge and technology expertise through training, coaching and product support.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of technical sales techniques and processes including the ability to understand customer needs, overcome objections, assist in the development of business cases, and technical deal closing.
  • Pursues and maintains professional and technical knowledge through ongoing training and education to ensure ability to work independently as a key professional resource to the revenue organization.

  • Outstanding understanding in multiple ConnectWise products and their integration points.
  • Possess and maintain advanced technology and industry knowledge, including best practices and processes.
  • Able to articulate company solution strategies at technical and business detail for their focus area.
  • Excellent communication skills to properly articulate business and product needs to both internal and external customers.
  • Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated, able to eliminate technical obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.
  • Must be flexible, dependable, and capable of quickly learning new products and technologies

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with ConnectWise Business Management Solutions

Working Conditions:

  • Long or irregular working hours are normal to meet deadlines, secure deals and attend conferences/events.
  • Dynamic atmosphere of a rapidly expanding technology organization.
  • 15% or greater travel may be required
