SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT
The Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, maintainability, resiliency and quality of software systems by instituting and promoting industry best practices. This is a hands-on role that actively participates in the design and delivery process for Connexure’s flagship ESL platform. Additionally, the Solutions Architect will be heavily engaged in designing, architecting, and building the next generation of the ESL platform, leveraging a modern tech stack, including an API orchestration engine. The ability to manage stakeholder relationships is also essential, as the Solutions Architect collaborates both within and across teams to address technical challenges, provide expert guidance, and act as a trusted advisor to drive the long-term success of software initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Architecture & Technical Delivery:
- Develop and communicate a clear strategy aligned with Connexure’s goals and market opportunities, with a specific focus on modular, API-first microservices-based architecture for Connexure’s ESL platform.
- Ensure architectural integrity and consistency across all products and services.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance SaaS solutions tailored to the self-funded health insurance market, leveraging microservices architecture.
- Engage closely with QA team to address quality gaps and facilitate automation of platform regression testing.
- Partner with DevOps function to fully automate build and deploy processes across all services and platform components.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Design, implement, and manage a microservices architecture that supports the scalability and flexibility of Connexure’s SaaS products.
- Mentor Software Engineers, and establish guiding principles and best practices to be followed across Engineering function in collaboration with the VP, Software Engineering.
- Leverage AI agents and tooling to accelerate platform development and evangelize their effective use cases among development teams .
- Define best practices for microservices development, deployment, and maintenance, including service orchestration, API management, and containerization.
- Design and deliver proof-of-concept work to evaluate feasibility of the next generation platform and other emerging products .
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on Connexure’s products and strategy.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Performance and Security:
- Define and enforce best practices for performance optimization, scalability, and security in a microservices environment.
- Conduct architectural reviews and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including executive leadership, to align architectural decisions with business objectives.
- Present architectural plans, progress updates, and performance metrics to various stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive architectural documentation, including design patterns, technical standards, and guidelines for next-generation architecture.
- Ensure that existing documentation and architectural artifacts are up-to-date and accessible to relevant teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
- 10+ years of experience in software architecture, with a focus on SaaS solutions, preferably in the healthcare or insurance sector.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable, high-performance SaaS applications using microservices architecture.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices architecture.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices, data privacy regulations, and compliance standards in healthcare (e.g., HIPAA).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
- Experience with architectural frameworks and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid model, Tuesday – Thursday is in-office (standard business hours), while Monday and Friday are remote days. Flexibility with schedule within general business hours. Must have reliable internet and familiarity with digital platforms.
