Director, MarTech Operations

Remote - US

At Constant Contact, we are seriously awesome people who take ownership and make an impact by operating with the mindset, integrity and courage of a small business owner. There’s something so profoundly rewarding about knowing that your work is empowering people everywhere to pursue their dreams.  Here, we all play an integral part in helping business owners, entrepreneurs, non-profits and individuals to succeed by giving them all the help and tools they need to grow online. We’re energized by new challenges and new possibilities-and we’re just getting started!

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Director of Paid Media Operations to own the critical data infrastructure that powers our performance marketing. In this role, you will be the ultimate bridge between our marketing strategy and the technical realities of modern ad platforms. You are senior enough to audit our current setup, define our tracking architecture, and guide strategy - but you still love getting your hands dirty in Google Tag Manager and API configurations. If you are passionate about ensuring every dollar spent is backed by flawless data pipelines, this is the role for you.

  • The "Player-Coach" Technologist: This is not a media buying role, nor is it a pure IT role. It is a highly specialized position for someone who understands exactly how ad algorithms work and has the technical chops to feed them the right signals (via APIs, Pixels, and GTM) to maximize ROI.

What You'll Do:

Tracking Architecture & Implementation (Hands-on-Keys)

  • Own the Tagging Ecosystem: Act as the primary administrator and architect for Google Tag Manager (GTM). Deploy, test, and maintain all conversion pixels, event tags, and custom tracking scripts across our digital properties.
  • Master Server-Side Tracking: Lead the implementation and ongoing health of server-to-server APIs to future-proof our tracking against cookie degradation. This includes deep, hands-on work with Meta Conversions API (CAPI), Google Enhanced Conversions, and TikTok Events API.
  • Offline Conversion Management: Build and maintain the workflows for uploading offline conversion data (e.g., Google GCLID tracking, CRM stage progression) back into ad platforms to train their bidding algorithms on down-funnel success.

Auditing, QA & Troubleshooting

  • Comprehensive Tracking Audits: Regularly audit our existing ad operations infrastructure. Identify data leaks, double-counting issues, broken tags, or misconfigured SDKs, and execute the fixes.
  • Pre-Launch Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce a rigorous QA protocol for all new campaigns, landing pages, and website updates to ensure tracking integrity before media dollars are deployed.
  • Anomaly Detection: Serve as the technical first responder when data discrepancies occur between ad platforms (Google/Meta) and our internal analytics/CRM systems.

Audience Operations & Data Flow

  • First-Party Data Syncing: Oversee the operational flow of 1st-party data from our CRM/Data Warehouse into paid platforms for dynamic audience creation, retargeting, and lookalike modeling.
  • Taxonomy & Governance: Define, document, and enforce a strict global UTM taxonomy and naming convention policy to ensure clean downstream analytics.

Cross-Functional Strategy

  • Bridge Marketing & Engineering: Act as the core translator between the performance marketing team (who needs the data) and the development/engineering teams (who manage the site code), writing clear technical requirements when developer assistance is needed.
  • Ad-Tech Evaluation: Continuously evaluate the evolving privacy landscape (e.g., iOS updates, cookie deprecation) and recommend technical solutions to maintain measurement accuracy.

What You'll Bring:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in digital marketing operations, ad operations, or technical marketing, with a proven track record of operating at a senior/architect level while remaining hands-on.
  • Deep Expertise in Paid Media Ad Operations: Comprehensive, hands-on knowledge of tracking mechanisms, SDKs, pixel setups, server-side APIs (Meta CAPI, Google GCLID/CAPI workflows), and Tag Management systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager).
  • Platform Mastery: Intimate technical knowledge of how major ad networks ingest data (Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager).
  • Technical Fluency: Comfort reading and writing basic web code (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) as it relates to tag firing and data-layer variables.
  • Data Literacy: Strong understanding of how CRM data, web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics 4), and paid media data interact. Basic SQL skills for querying audience data is a strong plus.
  • An Auditor's Mindset: Relentless attention to detail with a passion for finding the "needle in the haystack" when troubleshooting data discrepancies.
  • Exceptional Communication: The ability to explain complex technical tracking issues to non-technical marketing leaders.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education and work location. In addition, some roles may be eligible for additional on target commission pay or bonus. The compensation package includes health and welfare benefits including paid leave.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
