Assistant Principal (Elyria) - SY 25-26
Constellation Schools is seeking experienced and highly motivated Assistant Principal in Elyria, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking leaders who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing environment that prioritizes student engagement and achievement.
The Assistant Principal provides assistance to the Principal in effectively implementing the school’s education program that results in higher levels of achievement for all students and the professional development of each staff member.
The Assistant Principal shall be responsible for:
Operational Objectives:
- Effectively supports the school’s educational program and maximize student learning experiences in a safe learning environment.
- Articulates the school’s philosophy and mission and complies with all pertinent State of Ohio and Federal educational requirements, working to fulfill the mission of Constellation Community Schools.
- Maintains a welcoming, safe, clean, orderly, positive and effective learning environment which promotes high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Supports a framework for involving the entire school community in developing and supporting shared beliefs, values, mission and goals for the school and ensure continuous progress toward achieving these goals.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with:staff; parents; ODE; local elected and civic leaders; and the community at large.
- Maintains positive school communication. Seeks assistance from LLC staff to improve performance.
- Implements Board policies and administrative regulationsso asto provide an atmosphere in which students will succeed.
- Administers all Federal, State and Board adopted programs adhering to all eligibility, record keeping, reporting and confidentiality requirements.
- Supports the appropriate delivery of all Title and Special Education Services in accordance with the applicable law.
- Assist the School Principal in the creation of an operating schedule that insures year round building access.
- Assists in the interviewing of potential school employees.
- Works with the School Principal to support the success of all Community School Sponsor site visits.
- Participates in the student enrollment process.
- Attends all scheduled Board Meetings.
- Maintains the Parent/Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct. Handles student discipline in a fair, consistent manner in accordance with policies & procedures.
- Communicates effectively with staff, students, parents/guardians, and outside agencies to better meet the needs of the students.
- Identifies programs and activities which facilitate the professional growth of school staff and enhance the quality of educational programs.
- Remains knowledgeable of Charter Schools/Public Schools legal issues.
- Communicates with LLC staff to inform and insure the school’s website information is accurate and up-todate.
- Assists in the development of the school budget so as to insure the needs of the school can be met.
- Participates in all grant efforts in the school.
- Evaluates data points to maximize student learning and helps to evaluate student progress.
- In the absence of the School Principal, the Assistant Principal will provide effective supervision of all building staff.
- Other duties as identified by the School Principal.

- Partners with parents/guardians to ensure the academic success of their children.
- Welcomes parents/guardians and students each day with enthusiasm.
- Encourages parents/guardians to participate in their child’s school experience.
- Encourages parent/guardian participation during parent/guardian conferences.
- Encourages parent/guardian satisfaction feedback via parent/guardian surveys.
- Provides parents/guardians of prospective students with information about and tours of the school.
- Fosters relationships with parents/guardians, encourages volunteerism. Community Objectives:
- Encourages and maintains communications with community members. Participates in community events, connecting with community leaders.
- Works with the School Principal and Marketing Staff to ensure the Constellation brand is visible within the community. Personnel Objectives:
- Attends meetings/activities and training with: students, parents/guardians, and staff, as and when required.
- Provides direction and assistance to teaching staff as it relates to curriculum development, and the evaluation and selection of classroom materials.
- Assists in the establishment of all school committees and student enrichment activities and participates in system–wide Constellation committees.
- Evaluates Teachers based on the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES). Coaches teachers to assist them to reach their full potential. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required:
- Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field experience.
- Preferred Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
- Must possess an Active Principal’s License or willingness to obtain an Alternative Principal's license.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred.
- OTES credentialed or willing to become OTES credentialed.
- Experience in the Teacher Based Team (TBT) and Building Leadership Team (BLT) process.
- Experience working / leading Professional Development programming in a leadership capacity.
- Previous experience successfully implementing the Ohio Learning Standards in an academic setting.
- Previous experience successfully creating and implementing a school budget.

Education and Experience:

Work Environment:
While performing these duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Position requirements may include evening or weekend work.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift 20 pounds; able to reach, bend, sit and stoop. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
Travel: Local travel to various worksites may be required. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
