We're seeking an exceptional Engineering Tech Lead to lead the development of Cru.ai, Constrafor's AI-powered platform that's transforming how subcontractors manage their back office operations. As the technical leader for one of our most exciting products, you'll help shape the architecture, technical direction, and execution of a platform that's redefining accounting automation and financial workflows in construction.
In this role, you'll partner closely with CTO, Product, and engineering teams to build intelligent, scalable, and intuitive software that delivers real business value to our customers. You'll remain hands on in the code while leading technical decision making, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering best practices that enable the team to move quickly without compromising quality.
This is a unique opportunity to help build the first AI-powered back-office platform purpose-built for subcontractors, working on cutting edge AI experiences that automate manual workflows, improve financial visibility, and fundamentally change how construction businesses operate.
📝 What You'll Do:
- Lead the technical architecture and development of Cru.ai, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, and highly performant.
- Serve as the technical lead for major initiatives, driving projects from design through deployment while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Build and optimize AI-powered product experiences by integrating LLMs, AI services, and intelligent workflows into customer facing applications.
- Partner closely with Product & Design to transform customer problems into intuitive solutions.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural leadership while fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
- Define and champion best practices across software architecture, testing, observability, security, and deployment.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, reduce technical debt, and continuously enhance system reliability.
- Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to better understand workflows and translate feedback into impactful product improvements.
- Participate in hiring and help build a world-class engineering team.
- Lead by example through hands on coding while helping establish the long term technical vision for Cru.ai.
📈 What You Bring:
- 7+ years of experience building and scaling modern SaaS applications, including experience leading technical initiatives or engineering teams.
- Strong expertise in Python, Django, PostgreSQL, AWS, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Experience building AI enabled products or integrating LLMs and AI services into production applications.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, cloud architecture, and scalable software design.
- Proven ability to architect complex systems while balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills with the ability to influence technical direction across teams.
- Passion for building exceptional products, writing clean code, and continuously improving engineering practices.
