Staff Accountant
Summary/Objective
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations through accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and compliance activities. This position is responsible for assisting with the month-end close process, maintaining account reconciliations, and supporting various tax and regulatory filings.
Essential Functions
- General Accounting Duties
- Assist with monthly close, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain schedules for balance sheet accounts
- Support preparation of internal financial reports and variance analysis
- Collaborate across departments to ensure financial accuracy and timely data flow
- Help identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Business Licenses
- Prepare and file license applications and annual renewals as needed
- Maintain an organized tracker of active and inactive licenses
- Sales and Use Tax Filing
- Prepare and file returns across various states and jurisdictions
- Maintain accurate support and documentation for filings and audits
- Personal Property Tax Filings
- Prepare and file annual property tax returns for all physical locations in various states and jurisdictions
- Maintain list of all properties, related returns, and payments
- Special projects as assigned related to job duties.
Competencies/Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred
- Fluent in Microsoft Office with moderate to advanced knowledge of Excel
- Excellent organization, communication, and analytical skills
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and ability to meet specified filing deadlines.
- Willingness to contribute new ideas and feedback related to potential areas for improvements.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
