OVERVIEW

CR’s Benefits and Compensation Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of enterprise-wide compensation and benefits programs that support our dedication to a high-performing, equitable, and inclusive workplace--including competitive salaries, a 10% matching 401(k) plan, medical coverage from day one of employment, behavioral health support and three weeks vacation to start!

 A day in the life includes leveraging data-driven strategies, staying abreast of regulatory developments, and partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure that we are competitive, compliant and cost-effective with our offerings to employees.

As part of the CR’s People & Culture Team, you’ll report to the Director, Operations and Analytics.  You’ll manage a team dedicated to delivering excellent service and program execution while fostering employee engagement, retention, and total rewards transparency.

This is a hybrid position.  The successful candidate must be able to travel to our Yonkers, NY headquarters at least once per month.  This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

How You'll Make An Impact

As the point of contact for our both new and current employees working on changing the landscape of the consumer marketplace.

You’ll build trust by providing clarity around pay and benefits and serve as a key partner to managers, employees, and vendors.

Specifically, you will:

  • Lead the strategy and execution of CR’s compensation philosophy, with a focus on transparency, equity, and market competitiveness.
  • Educate managers on compensation decisions, salary structures, and merit processes, and ensure employees understand their compensation and wellness benefits.
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition and People Partners to align compensation during hiring, internal transfers, promotions, merit increases, and annual compensation cycles.
  • Administer CR’s 401(k) plan—including compliance, vendor management, and employee education.
  • Oversee benefits administration, Open Enrollment, and build awareness and engagement around CR’s full suite of wellness offerings.
  • Serve as a key in-office resource in Yonkers, NY, supporting employees and managers directly with questions and benefits-related needs.
  • Manage leave programs and reasonable accommodations, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and laws.
  • Lead compensation reviews with an eye toward equity and inclusion, conducting pay equity analyses and embedding DEI into compensation programs.
  • Provide robust reporting and analysis using Excel and HR systems to support business decisions and compensation strategy.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality while managing sensitive employee and compensation information.
  • Manage and mentor a team that is both empathetic and detail-oriented, focused on exceptional service delivery.

  • You’ve built the programs. You have demonstrated success in designing and managing transparent, equitable compensation programs.
  • You have your hands in the business. You have hands-on experience with 401(k) administration, benefits strategy, leaves and accommodations, and compliance.
  • You love numbers. You have a high proficiency in Excel and HR Systems the ability to manage and interpret large datasets.

FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation.The target salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 for a Hybrid position based in Yonkers, NY. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range.Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
