We're seeking a dynamic and visionary UX Manager to lead our talented team of UX designers. This is a pivotal role where your strategic thinking, design expertise, and leadership will directly shape intuitive and user-friendly experiences that uphold our commitment to consumer empowerment.

How You'll Make An Impact

As User Experience Manager, you will help lead CR’s User Experience efforts for development projects across our digital platforms including the mobile app. You will be:

  • Strategic Visionary: Lead the charge in analyzing complex customer problems through intensive user research and data, translating insights into delightful, impactful solutions.
  • Experience Architect: Define and align holistic experience maps, crafting compelling customer journeys and user flows that seamlessly integrate user needs, business goals, and technical requirements.
  • Innovation Driver: Champion iterative strategic prototyping and team alignment, boldly reshaping directions to enhance experiences and pioneer new features or products, like the use and integration of AI.
  • Team Builder & Mentor: Cultivate and lead a high-performing team of UX professionals, fostering their growth, managing projects, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality design work.
  • Design System Steward: Drive the adoption, evolution, and adherence of our UX design system, ensuring consistency and scalability.
  • Influential Communicator: Articulate and defend design recommendations with clarity and conviction to all levels of stakeholders, from cross-functional partners to senior leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Partner: Collaborate seamlessly with product, engineering, and content teams, ensuring thoughtful, scalable, and high-quality implementation of designs.
  • User Advocate: Actively champion user-centricity throughout the organization, educating and inspiring others around key usability concepts.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

  • You have the experience. 6+ years of hands-on user experience design experience and at least 2-years in a leadership role at either a large agency or a large commercial website.
  • You've demonstrated success in leading and managing UX teams across diverse projects.
  • You bring a deep expertise in user research methodologies (e.g., user testing, interviews, analytics) and deriving actionable insights.
  • You are proficient with leading design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Miro).
  • You have a strong background in applying and evolving UX design systems.
  • You have exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus.
  • You have a clear understanding of user-centered design principles and patterns across all platforms (desktop to mobile).

  • You have standout portfolio experience in Ecommerce flow and conversion, the expansion and shaping of a digital app experience, or membership strategy growth.

FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation informed by location, as well as the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. It is expected that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of the posted salary range. We have three locations: Yonkers, NY, Washington, DC and Colchester, CT.

Salary ranges

  • NY/California: $150K-$170K annually
  • DMW/Massachusetts: $140K-$160K annually
  • Colchester, CT and additional approved CR locations: $120K-$140K annually
