We're looking for a lead AI/ML engineer to help execute on our strategic multi-year roadmap focussed on generative AI.
As AI/ML Engineer, you will leverage emerging data technologies and applied AI/ML techniques/frameworks to build reliable, scalable and maintainable production-ready applications. You will report to the Assoc. DIrector, AI/ML & Machine Learning but work very closely with our Innovation Lab to stand-up and refine new digital products designed to help consumers navigate a digitally-driven economy, protect their digital security and make smart buying decisions.

How you'll make an Impact:
As a mission based organization, CR and our Software team are pursuing an AI strategy that will drive value for our customers, give our employees superpowers, and address AI harms in the digital marketplace. We’re looking for an AI/ML engineer to help us execute on our multi-year roadmap around generative AI.
As a Lead AI/ML Engineer you will:
- Translate business needs into AI/ML projects with measurable impact.
- Lead design, development, and deployment of production-ready AI/ML systems.
- Build and maintain end-to-end AI/ML pipelines.
- Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX, engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Research and adopt new AI/ML tools and frameworks.
- Promote responsible AI: ethics, data privacy, compliance.
- Mentor and guide team members in engineering best practices.
You’ll Be Highly Rated If:
- You bring the Education & Experience:. You have a bachelor’s degree in CS, Data Science, AI, or similar WITH 7+ years in AI/ML engineering
- You possess strong fundamentals in math, statistics, probability, machine learning, NLP, generative AI
- You are an expert in Python, SQL, Unix scripting; experience using major AI/ML libraries/frameworks
- You have experience with cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Databricks) building scalable production pipelines
- You are an excellent communicator; especially when working across teams.

Fair Pay And A Just WorkPlace
At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation informed by location, as well as the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. It is expected that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of the posted salary range. We have three locations: Yonkers, NY, Washington, DC and Colchester, CT. We are registered to do business in and can only hire from the following states and federal district: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Vermont, Virginia and Washington, DC.
Salary ranges
- NY/California: $165K-$190K annually
- DMW/Massachusetts: $143K-$165K annually
- Colchester, CT and additional approved CR locations: $137K-$158K annually
